  1. :D

You could just use a TRS stereo jack as a switch, stompbox style - simply hook up your batteries' (two AAAs will probably take up the least room, unless you want to use button cells) positive side to the current limiting resistor in series with the anode of the LED(s), and hook the cathode to the guitar's ground point, then hook up the battery negative to the ring terminal of the TRS jack. When you plug in, the mono jack will short the ring to the sleeve (ground) and complete the circuit, lighting the LED.

hmm im not too sure what you mean. i already have a mono 1/4 jack, would that work?

could you maybe draw a diagram :D

should i have posted this in the electronic section?

  2. alright folks i have no idea how to wire my bass guitar.

i have passive precision pickups, a tone and volume pot, a jack and grounding to get wired up. now the tricky part is that when i plug in my bass to my amp i would like a few leds to turn on.

Picture too large - changed to link

how would i do this? i dont have room for a 9v battery or anything big (probably only enough for single cells) can someone help me out? possibly write me some schematics? i have never done this before :D

    any tips are welcome!

    thanks a lot!

  3. heyhey!

im a 16 year old bass player and lately ive had a nice project on my hands. i decided to build my own devastator bass (the bass jerry only from the misfits handmade) this is my first build and ive been working on it for a while. I am currently waiting to receive my neck from warmoth. here are some pictures; let me know what you think!!!

what im trying to build, well make my own version of

now jerry only did not have any volume or tone knobs, i like to have those so i decided to hide them. i constructed a cover for my electronics but also encorperated a strat jack plate. the cover is on the back of the guitar so is the jack therefor keeping the front of the bass clean. the knobs are hidden in the bass, inside a pocket that is kept open.. also on the back.. youll see what i mean

now a little idea a friend gave me. he noticed that the knobs were being held by clear plexiglass so if i put some lights in the electronic cavity the pocket for the knobs would light up!! here i took a picture using a quick setup of leds and a battery pack. if anyone knows how to wire the lights so they come on when i plug the jack in, it would be nice to let me know how to do this.

here is a pic of the idea
