I've got a rosewood 22-fret Fender scale fretboard. You'd need to add the wire and inlays though.

Anyone know where to find templates for bass guitars?? Specifically the Gibson blackbird.
Thanks,

Did the search as you suggested and found nothing...

Hi,
I'm building my first guitar and chose a Les Paul. I'm good to go on the body, but don't have any details on the neck.
Any chance someone out there has any blueprints or anything that could help me?
Thanks,
Steve

Would anyone that has this book be willing to let me borrow it for a bit?
Hey...I know it's a long shot, but it's worth a try...

Anyone have an glue-in, Les Paul-style neck they don't need?

Doing a set neck. Any thoughts on bolt on versus glue in?

I'm working on a Les Paul project and have a mahogany body that I'm adding a flamed maple veneer top to.
Since I'm a visual person, I have trouble "seeing" the end result and I'd like your opinions on something.
Do you think it would look good to have a maple neck with rosewood fretboard and just stain or paint the neck, or would it be better to have the entire guitar made from mahogany.
Thanks for your opinions.

Thanks. I also found the tutorial that Brian wrote and it's pretty good.

Thanks for the reply.
Are the tutorials on this forum somewhere?

Hi,
I need some advice. I have a piece of bookmatched quilted maple that I need to glue and then cut to the body shape with cavity holes, etc...
My question is...what is the best way to go about this?
Do I glue then cut or do I lay the wood together, mark the cut lines, cut it and then glue it?
As always, thanks to all the smart guys out there who know what they're doing!

Guess I'll have to go the Stewmac way and spend $40 on them.

I was just there, signed up and still can't find the library. It's not as well organized as this forum.
If you can find it, would you send me a link to the templates you're talking about?

I guess cutting trapezoids would be no big deal. I never really considered it. What is the MIMF library?

Yeah, check these out:

I'm not sure if they're real MOP or not though.

Might anyone happen to have any pre-cut Gibson trapezoid fretboard inlays that they would be willing to sell?
Thanks,
Steve

litchfield-Thanks for the info. That made my day!

I'm working on my first project guitar (and will post photos soon), which is a Gibson Les Paul and I need some help with the neck.
I'm wondering if anyone out there could supply me with the dimensions of the neck:
-Length
-Width
-Thickness
-Curvature
-Anything else I'm leaving out
Your help is always appreciated.
Thanks,
Steve

Does anyone out there have any bookmatched maple that they would be willing to sell to me?

I don't think I'd want to stain over a veneer. I think I'd get better results going with a maple overlay, wouldn't I?
Ideally, I'd like to have it look like a black & lighter black "stripe" or other kind of pattern from the stain.
Glue and/or biscuit joints?

I'm working a 2-piece Les Paul made from Mahogany. My question is, will Titebond hold it together well enough, or should I consider doing any biscuit joints?
Thanks,
Steve
