  2. I know this is a guitar forum and all, but I figured someone out there may be looking to sell one of these of know where I can get one. Im looking for a M-Audio O2. I'm trying to get in under a $100, becuase I just need it a few times. So any help would be great
  3. Would this be possible to do with the dreaded Rattle cans or do you need a whole paint gun system?
  4. Does anyone know how I would go about getting my guitar this color (Satin Black). I can't tell if this is a dye, stain, or a what. http://www.digitalplayroom.com/esp/images/ec2005_lg.jpg
  5. Ok since I'm a total moron at this stuff, I pulled the child out of me and tried my hand at MS Paint, now don't make fun of my art work . Im not sure how to wire the above diagram, so could someone explain it to me with my GREAT Paint work. Now I am pretty sure that this is probably super easy, but for some reason I just don't understand it Well, I don't think anyone is going to go out and buy one of these switches to help you out. So how about giving us a clue? When P2 is connected to terminal #1... which terminal is P1 connected to? I would assume terminal #7, but that would just be an assumption. Help us to help you. Im sorry I didnt know I need that, Yup your assumption is correct. OK so it goes like this P2 P1 1 7 2 8 3 9 4 10 5 11 6 12 Im hope this is helps any Sorry for be such newb at this stuff

  7. Yeah I figured out which where the 2 poles. As for knobs I have many many of them that are 1/4 in diameter, but I think Im going to cast my own skull knobs at my dads metal shop.
  8. COOL THANKS Now I just have 2 questions.......................Ok now these are total newbie questions so bare with me here I just went and picked up the switch at the ever shrinking PoopShack. Well it doesnt tell me what each prong is for, I know which are the pole prongs, but not sure about the other ones. Im not sure if it matters, Im leaning to toward it doesnt but Im not sure how to go about hooking it up. Now my next TOTAL NEWB QUESTION IS ....................um not even sure if I should as this, becuase it is such a stupid question (hide face so flames dont hit it) which way is it held, it is kind of shaped like a diamond and Im not sure if it goes side ways (sides pointing up and down) or straight (long sides up and down). I know these are TOTAL newb questions, but that tis what Iam If anyone has time and wants to help a fellow out a diagram would be nice
  9. Ok so 100k is pretty much going to sound like turd? I kinda figured, but I just wanted to make sure. I think Im going to stick with 250k, or 500k with a .22uf cap on it. If I were to use a 100k pot I want to use a smaller cap, such as a .01uf cap correct?
  10. Im not sure if this question has been asked before or not, but I did search quite a bit, but couldnt find anything. Can you mix different value pots together? I was thinking about putting 2 100k pots for my tones and a 500k or 250K for my volume. Im not sure how it would sound, it is just something that I was wondering about since I have terrible insomnia and my mind is moving a mile a minute Also while Im hear, how deep of a tone would it be if I used 3 100k pots on 3 single coil pickups?
  11. One of the reasons Im leaning toward this is because I just got done making a custom pickguard and Im looking for a different style switch instead of the standard fender 5 way lever switch because Im really not sure how to cut a 1/16 inch wide straight line without screwing up the pickguard. So that is why I starting looking into this route, but Im wondering if there is any issues with having a rotary style switch instead of the lever switch? Also how different would this 2 pole 6 position rotary switch be incomparison to a standard fender Strat 5 way switch? I know that on the rotary switch there is 6 position and the lever switch has 5, but what would be the difference other than things such as that
  12. Well I did manage to find this, Im not sure if it will be helpful to anyone?
  13. HMMMM I wonder if I can find a schematic somewhere with a similar switch HMM.
  14. Hey you don't by chance know the sku number for the 250k pot do you? It would be 271-xxxx Ha ha Radioshack, sell parts HA HA HA HA. No go there, they are getting rid of all their parts in the next 1-2 years. They are going the BIG BOX route. I started working there 6 years ago and I cant wait to get a new job When you say a good CTS pot, what do you mean by good? What is the differecnce from one pot to the next? Sorry if its a stupid question Im just not sure? Hmmm...I worked for Radio Shack about 9 years ago for a couple of months. First and only job I ever got fired from, too. I told my manager to stuff it because I'd been working for 15 hours straight on the monthly "inventory" and I was going home. Didn't care much because I was moving 500 miles away to college a couple weeks later. Anyway, I noticed that the Shack has installed new parts drawers, ala Lowes, for holding what parts they have left. I can't really imagine them going totally BigBox considering all I ever sold there was phones. I think the last real part I bought from them was a green LED about three years ago. But I like buying phones there. I won't ever buy another Sprint phone from a Sprint Store, but I'll buy one from RadioShack any day. AH gotta love the unorginized inventories that NEVER come out right
  15. Im just curious, could this switch be used instead of a 5-way selector switch for 3 single coil pickups? http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.js...tch&tab=summary

  17. Nope you were perfectly clear, I just wanted to make sure Thanks for the help
  18. Im just double checking here. I did what you said and all 3 stuck together, then I took the 2 black and white wired pickup and tried putting them together face to face and they didnt stick together, then I put the same 2 back to back (magnet to magnet) and they were pushing against each other. Now back to the red/white wired pick up, that one sticks to both of the other pickups front and back. So Im assuming you are correct, the red/white pickup is the middle one, but Im not sure? Also I noticed the on the 2 black and white wired pickups the 2 solder spots are the same, the negative wire is left joint and the positive is on the right side, but is reversed on the red/white pickup, Im not sure if that matters. I was also told to test them all with a mulitimeter. Here are the readings I got: Black/White: 6.07 Ohm Black/White: 5.93 Ohm Red/white: 5.97 Ohm So Am I correct in saying that the bridge pickup will be the 6.07 OHM the neck pickup will be the 5.93 Ohm and the 5.97 will be the middle pickup?
  19. Now the wire with shielding im assuming goes to the output jack, correct? I would like to put 250K pots on there, but there is no places around me that sell them and honestly I really dont want to wait for them so I cant order them. The highest output Pot I can get locally is 100K. I wonder if there is a way I can put a resistor on them and get 250k out? HMMM
  20. Alright I just searched many pages and found similar scenerios, but nothing that fully answers my questions. Ok I have to ground my single coil pickups, but I don't want to solder anything to the back of the pots, instead I drilled a hole in the body of the guitar that leads directly to the back where the Tremolo Claw is. Now can I run all the grounding wires to the Tremolo Claw and ground them together at that one point? In searching I read a post that you can run a wire from the grounding point on the back of the pots to the claw, but I would much rather run ALL the wires there and ground them out at that one point, but Im not sure if that can be done or not without any problems such as bad buzz, shocking or anything of that nature. Now my other question is there there is only one wire with a braided shielding on it, the other wires from the pickups have no braid shielding, what is the shield wire? Im not sure if I have to solder the shielding or not. Now on to my last pickup question, how can you tell which spot on the 5 way selector switch is for what? On the switch there is just a straight line of connectors and Im not sure which is which? Sorry about all the newbie questions, but this is my first time doing anything like this, so Im learning as doing. Here is a run down of what I have 3 500K pots, 2 .22 uf caps, 3 single coil pickups and a 5 way selector. Now all of this was given to me for an old style Strat that Im redoing and giving to my little brother for a first guitar. So Im looking for the best way to get a deeper sound out of the pickups without buying new pickups. I know I can change the pots to 250k, but I think the .22 cap should give me what Im looking for. Thanks in advance for the help
  21. Im pretty sure is a prett stupid question, but I need to know. How can you tell the difference between a bridge, neck and middle pickup. See I was given three single coil pickups and I have no clue which is which. 2 of them have black and white wires and the other have a red and white set of wires. The other question is does it really matter which one goes where? Also one more question is these pickups were stuck together, does that hurt them in anyway shape and or form?
  22. Hey guys I have been searching the forum for quite a few pages and found some great info, but nothing so far that answers my question. I just got my little brother a starter guitar for a big wopping $50, but I noticed it has a pretty good amount of tremolo maybe alittle bit to much. Well my curiousity got the best of me so I took it apart and noticed that it has 3 500k pots and 2 .047uf Caps, which seems kind of funny to me, because there is no humbucker pickups only 3 single coil pickups. I know that changing the caps and pots can darken the sound a bit. So I guess my question is what value cap can I use to get a darker sound? I know I can change the pots, but there is no place around here for me to purchase any 250k Pots, and I really dont want to order anything until Im sure he WANTS to learn how to play, then once he is sure Im going to give him my Ibanez Jem. So is there any value I cap i can use, because god knows I HAVE atleast 300 different caps in my parts drawers
  23. I knew I should have look of my post, IM A MORON I know the guitar is maple, but you are right I dont think I would beable to match the grain pattern. HMMM Im going to have to think about this
  24. Whats up, this is my first time on this site and I must say it is AWESOME there is a TON of great info on here. Now Im not sure if this is in the proper section or not, but if not mods could you please move it to the proper location? Ok here is what Im wondering about. Im in the process of refinishing my guitar and I was wondering if it is possible to move the input jack from the front of the guitar (Fender Strat style) to the back bottom side of the guitar, so it looks like the cord plugs into the bottom half.. So has anyone tried this? Im wondering what I would need to know and how to go about doing this. ANy help would be great
