  1. I will post alot of pictures on this one...I still gonna work on the headstock..the widow don't do it for me but it does look better? As for the batman guitar ...I liked the grain better too...My son wanted it black...So thats what he got..he sure did like it! it played great...Well one thing is for sure...the dragon guitar will be natural Thanks, Darkside
  2. Actually...you are right! it is a prize...along with all the other builders that post their guitars..those are their prizes...yep! The bottom is kind of bulky? have suggestions?....Yes...there will be alot of details and I might liminate a few horns..And you are right! Not just anyone can jump on it and play it...but ..I have other guitars for that....As for pratical...No! its not going to be user friendly sort of speak, and as we have already figured out ya gonna have to stand to play it....But it will be an actual playing instrument....I'm not an expert on psychology either...Would like to hear your input on how maybe to take some of the bulk away... Thanks
  3. Here it is with the widow headstock? what you think? http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e219/darkside7/WIDOW.jpg
  4. MMM...I thought about that...Not sure to what though? maybe something more exotic? Nothing is really set as: this is how its gon'na be ....Looks has alot to do with it. -Darkside That was my thoughts...Just some guitars you just gotta play standing...Like the v's it just not a sitting guitar
  5. Well...I am ready for my next project! Think this one is a little more of a challenge...and will probally take longer. Gave my last project to my son (the Batman guitar) and he really loved it! This one will be for me? ....Maybe? I welcome all comments...critics? I just drew up the design, what I would like it to some what look like....Although it may change a bit? Let me know what you guitar buiders think? http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e219/darkside7/DRAGON1.jpg
  6. Cool bat pic..that is a cool idea about the classic version...But now I think the batman thing is done for me ...its time to Build another one...Of course it will still be gothic and wicked as i can dream up and this time it won't have all the " I should of done this" attached to it ...CAUSE THE NEXT ONE IS FOR ME! I have already planed on alot more carvings from the darkside
  7. Sure...Go for it! I enjoyed it...But I didn't beat you to it! There are a few batman designed guitars out there and if you decide to make yours...it will just add to it! anyway, thats what makes this guitar forum all the better...that there are several type and styles of guitars as well as several opinionated individuals... I look forward to seeing your batman guitar
  8. Looking good! nice wood and nice work
  9. Hmm.... where would you have put it? I thought on this believe it or not...then decided to put between the shoulders of the wings....Hmmm....Bats do hang upside down...right? But ...now I'm thinking my third guitar will not have tha head, But,..maybe a wicked diamond shape and every thing else pretty much the same.....thanks for the input there
  10. Actually....the F holes will be painted yellow inside like the logo colors ...black and yellow yep!! I painted it black...cause you were right...errr...anyway my son wanted it black...sure was hard forcing myself to paint over that nice grain....but its coming along....better pics soon...thanks
  11. Just though I would post the progress on the batman guitar....I have recently split the body long ways and chamered it....added F holes and now the weight of the body is in much better balance with the neck...Sprayed several coats of black Lacquer and plenty of 320 grit sand paper in between coats...As you can see I have it hanging in a closet to dry between coats...Plenty coats of clear Lacquer, until I get what I am after....I will continue to use the 320 grit....then 400 grit, and then the finishing compounds...Still have work to do on the neck...Inlays...Got to get that abolone....I think thats what its called ....Appreciate all coments Thanks http:// Here are the finish pictures...sorry I am not much on taking pictures...but these are the best I can come up with
  12. Looks great! Are those two peices of mahogany where there is a line in the body? or is it just one? the set of Seymour duncans pickups is not a bad choice... my step son put a set on his dean and it sounds great! he plays like guitar whisper....a word of advice on (anything anybody wants to see done differently on it?) ......Put what you want own it....do it like you want it done...your the builder ignore bad critiques for they will just discourage you! It so happens I'm with you....It looks great so far! Have you detailed it or plane/sanded the body yet?Did you mean stain or dye...the body? look forward seeing your progress! stay cool
  13. Thanks so much Setch! not sure how ya did that? I knew they were suppose to be bigger? That helps alot now at least you can see them better...Thanks By the way ...I clicked on the link and your home page is awesome...so cool...its nice to see other acky fingers at work ....
  14. I would be defintly interested...What kind of inlay or what kind? peral? ablone? Other? where and how did you come about them? I read an article on the net where it talked about doing inlays with metal? like solder? I just never heard of that? but, it showed no finish product? I still have the peices of cut off from the body I might try alittle just to see what it looks like? Hey! I it looks great I will post it and the methods...Anyway let me know what ya want for those inlays and how many ya have...Thanks
  15. Very cool pete! Thanks for the compliment on the design, as well as finding all those other guitars depicting batman...I was really looking for something that was a little more gothic/ wicked looking than the ones I found....when i finally came up with this design of my own... I think black wound make it more wicked but may take away something else? I did use my computer to make it black...I like it both ways? Thanks
  16. Yep! your right ...it should be black!!! But,....I just can't bring myself to black over that pretty mahogany wood? I'm leaning towards maybe black around the inside edges with inlays
  17. I am getting the neck off a brand new V and the hardware and wiring as well...just happened to be in a car wreck where the guitar got destroyed bodywise, but the neck..I will change the pickups though...the neck had no damage...I went to Bc Rich site and I am glad I don't have to pay what they want for it! I will redo the head on neck, laminate mahogany over the now maple head stock...well aleast thats my plan (lol) Still learning alot....
  18. Actually the strap will be gothic style...you know the kind from gotham city
  19. I think i figured out how to post post a picture of batman Guitar
  20. I am new to this forum...I see alot of you here are building or starting to build a guitar...so I decided to post the one I am currently building ...I am building this for my son who loves heavy metal playing and into Batman stuff...I am in my early stages of building, I do have the body carved and decided to go with a BC rich neck, to be inlayed with batman logo's this is my second guitar after 20 years...thinking I might just try it on the side as a hobby kind of thing...not sure how to post pictures here from my computer?
