  1. im designing the next guitar im gonna work on... havent got a mock up of it yet but im working on it so until then heres a description

firebird body with CBS style strat neck

floyd rose or stop bar not sure which one yet

    lace sensor humbucker in neck

    pearly gates humbucker in bridge

2 volumes 2 tones (the 2 tones will also be coil splitting)

pick up selector switch (rythym, treble, and both humbuckers on at the same time)

kluson vintage split head tuning machines

not sure about the paint yet

and possibly built in delay or pre-amp?

anybody have good tips on websites... warmoth has good stuff but a bit too expensive for me ot have everything done there suc has bridge routing etc.

just let me know what you think of the plan and any comments would be nice

and if anyone is real good at doing a mockup would you mind making one cause mine looks horrible afte rabout 4 hrs of effort

  2. im tuning to 440 neck scale is 25'' neck is straight little relief... nut slot is cut idk. its defintely big for 9's so im thinking that maybe it was meant to have heavier gauge strings on it.... i should also keep in mind that this is a cheap japanese guitar from 40 years ago that i got for $10 off eBay so i shouldnt expect perfection.

so yea ill just try heavier gauge strings and if that doesnt work i guess ill just replace the neck

    thanks for the help btw

  3. i just finished wiring up a project guitar of mine a 1966 tesico e-120 and i put all new electronics pickups and bridge in and i strung it up with ernie ball 9 gauge hybrid strings just to be safe because i wasnt sure how much the neck could hold.

the problem is that the strings are too loose its like playing rubber bands. and they buzz like crazy... my idea to alleviate this would be to put higher gauge strings maybe 10's or 11's on and go from there. also in case this has any effect i had to shim the part of the neck pocket furthest away from the bridge to get the neck to go high enough for the strings to even vibrate.

any ideas and or solutions on how to fix this would be great. its my first project guitar and i spet a good $250 to $300 on parts and i dont want to have to scrap this and i really like the neck so getting rid of it and putting on a new one is a last resort

  4. when my guitars neck screws got stripped out i used wood putty and a tooth pick... just use the toothpick to push the wood putty all the way to the bottom and fill the entire hole. let it sit overnight and then your good. mine has not had any problems yet.

    just my opinon

p.s. if you put too much in be sure to sand it flat

  5. right now i just strung it up and the sound cuts in and out.. is this because i did not solder correctly and its shorting against itself, because its not properly grounded, something to do with the stereo output jack or what? i cant figure it out this is the third time ive tried it.

i have a 250 k and 500 k pots...... the 500 k is for the humbucker. which should i make tone and which should i make volume... currently i have the 500 k as volume and 250 k as tone could htis be affecting the signal?

Double check all the solder points and make sure everything is connected in the proper way. Make sure the contact points on the jack are right up against the guitar cable and that things that aren't supposed to touch aren't touching.

You are using the pots the way I would. And no, that should not affect the signal (but it will slightly affect the tone. Read here.)

Does it only cut in and out on certain pickup combinations?

btw, if anyone sees anything wrong with the diagram, PLEASE say so.

its my fault. i did not ground everythign to a central point which explains it all. i went back and did so and now it works perfectly... thanks patman for all the advice and the wiring diagram it sounds great.

  6. got a teisco e-120 for christmas as a project guitar and ive been working on it since then.

this is my first attempt at building/customizing a guitar and its going ok. the pickguard isnt cut perfect.. the picture is bad but its got 2 chicken head knobs one volume one tone and then 2 mini switches to turn each pickup off or on. fixed strat style bridge... the neck is real off and i have to intonate it but currently the electronics are not working. so hoping to have that done soon. any advice from any1 who has worked with teiscos and knows of problems with them then let me know

  7. Could you check the volume and tone wiring? I've never seen this particular way of doing it.

That should work perfectly fine. If there is another way you want to wire the volume and tone, go ahead, but it should be okay.

right now i just strung it up and the sound cuts in and out.. is this because i did not solder correctly and its shorting against itself, because its not properly grounded, something to do with the stereo output jack or what? i cant figure it out this is the third time ive tried it.

  8. can some1 please make a diagram or explain how to wire this setup

neck position pickup - great white snark single coil

bridge position pickup - pearly gates humbucker (4 conductor)

i would like for each of these to be wired to seperate on-off switches and from there to a master volume and master tone (if that is possible) or have a tone for the humbucker. from there i have a stereo output jack (got it free from guitar center) is there any special way i should wire this so it becomes a mono output jack?

any help at all would be great. thanks
