  1. where can i buy black s/h pickguards for strat? like the johnny ramone signature series. even a blank black strat pickguard will do.
  2. thanks for all the help everyone, but i think fenders are too hard to find for 300-400$ so i will wait for the right telecaster/jagmaster to come around and buy it. kudos
  3. yeah ive said ive previously worked on 2 guitars and know most about modding them... its time to get down to business now without spending too much money. ive been looking at epis and they seem like really good quality compared to squier but i dont like any of them atm! all the vintage ones look crap cept the firebird which is sorta good.
  4. It's used on the extremely low end BC Richs for the same reason it's used on the low end Squires - because it's cheap and widely available. Bronze BCRs are not quality instruments. Agathasis is a step above plywood, but not as good as alder, poplar, basswood, or any of the other widely available cheap woods used for guitar building. oops i was looking at the wrong tele. the standard squier tles have agathis and the others have alder. i dont think id be willing to buy another body because it would cost me $100+ dollars.
  5. mm i wont be selling it for quite a while. ill only use it for little gigs. if the wood is poor, why is used in bc richs? is agathis is better than plywood and alder right?
  6. well i have already done my own custom guitar and know how to install and remove most things properly. i have examined the specs on the squiers and the fenders and it suits my budget. fenders are about $1000 in aus which is a LOT of money. squiers are only about 300$ and only spending about 100$ will bring it up to scratch. i can install everything myself except am new to chaning the top nut and do not really know what fret dressing is.
  7. that would be quite a task to do if i did it myself. would it be cheap to get someone to do it?
  8. im only buying the vintage bridge for looks. i dont want to buy a new body because it comes with a decent agathis. i want it to sound like a fender without spending too much. by nuts do you mean the the screws holding everything in place??
  9. Well im finally buying a tele. i gotta buy a squier because fenders are wayyy out of my budget. ive decided to get the standard tele since ive heard it is the best in the series. my plans are to buy vintage usa pickups and vintage bridge. what other parts are to be bought to make it sound and feel more like a fender? new pots maybe? will the usa pickups make a huge difference??
  10. yeah you thought i wasnt coming back but here it is. unpainted and the bridge is somewhere in my room
  11. my strats got all the regualr strat stuff and will be soon recieving more pampering, but so far: All the regular strat stuff same finish black screws black acessory kit still waiting on these to arrive: Seymour Duncan Hot Rail (bridge) Seymour Duncan Cool Rail (neck) Seymour Duncan Hot Stack (middle) 3 black trem saddles 3 fender black tuners black string aligner thingy how much ya rekon ill get on ebay for it? the pickups are 400$ alone
  12. ive decided to improve my design because im not happy with it. ill have to buy a router to do it tho. im simply calling it the flying vampire
  13. yes there are neck seymour duncan hot rails. so its about 300$ and 180$ so i made a pretty good deal only paying 70$. yet to hear from SD
  14. just dont go with active! youll spend more time buying new batteries than playing!
  15. Linky Im pretty sure 2 are Seymour Duncan hot rails and the other looks like a single coil Dimarzio X2N. its a pretty good deal considering it only cost me 70$ when 1 hot rail is 150$
  16. oh i get it, too bad i lost 1 of my string savers.
  17. its a jackson lfr. so i remove the ball and lock the circular end into the saddle?
  18. Where exactly do the strings go on a floyd rose?! i took the string savers out and put the ball end of the strings there and tightened it in. I looked at my strat and it seemed to be threaded through holes in the bridge, but there were no holes in mine. how do i do it?! anyone have a diagram
  19. Is there a tutorial on this? Currently my jackson is bolt on. do i just have too bolt it on, grind down the bolt, fill in the hole and glue it?
  20. Im thinking of turning my SSS strat into a HHH setup but will it dramatically improve tone? also will a humbucker fit in the single pickup cavity? Im also thinking of adding another tone knob for the mid range. will wiring this setup also be pretty straight forward?
  21. you should take a look at a jem construction and some guitar parts to get some knowledge about them.
  22. the metal shaft that the trem poles screw into is what i think your talking about. they should be flush with the cavity and none of the shaft should stick out.
  23. looks alright but wheres the rest of the fretboard??? idea: bullseye inlay!
  24. I am building a custom coffin case and bought a product i think was called Selleys no need for nails. Its supposed to be an wood adhesive that replaces nails because its soo strong. 100% polyurathane i think. would i still need dowels to join the wood pieces or is this glue sufficient?
