  1. I've painted a few guitars and now I wanna do some inlays, what tools do I need to do inlays on an already existing neck?
  2. I looked for pics of a shielded cable on webcrawler and I think that's what it is. How would I solder it? Do I need to keep the wires seperate, or strip them both?
  3. I've taken apart and soldered back together a couple of guitars but the wiring is different on this one. The wires that go from the pickups to the volume and tone pot have 2 wires in each one. It's hard to explain. Say you have your wire coming from the pickup and u cut it and the rest is still soldered to the pot. Well, where I cut it, it has a cord inside a cord. It's basically a cord with another cord inside it. I don't know how to solder those two pieces back together. Some help please. I would post pics but they would be too big.

  5. I found one for $39.99 I think. Thanks for all the help.
  6. My friend has a Galveston bass and it has a bad connection no matter what cord is used. What should I look for on the guitar to see what might be causing it? All the soldering that is done on it is good.
  7. Verhoevenc, Do u have a link to a website that sells them? And 1576, can u explain how they made the things that spin a lil better? Did they hook to their beltor where did they hook to?
  8. I was wondering if anybody has ever finished a guitar in fur like Billy Gibbons from ZZ Top? If you have, I'd like to have a little instruction. Or if you know how they spin their guitars with a swivel, I'd like to be able to do that too if I can figure out or have somebody show me how to make one.
  9. This might be a dumb question but I'm wanting to paint a hollowbody and was wondering how when u buy a hollowbody there isn't any paint inside the f holes where the paint would go through.. Would u mask it off with tape somehow? I did a search but couldn't find anything.
  10. I've searched for a led inlay how-to and the one I found was made by Brian but the link doesn't work. If there's anyway somebody has the tuturiol and can send it to me I'd really appreciate it. Thanks, Trey.
  11. Thanks a lot, I'm still learnin. Slowly but surely.
  12. When hooking my Tom Delonge up there's a black wire that goes to the output jack and a white wire that goes to the output jack. And of course there's two places in the out put jack for them. One for each hole. Does it matter which one goes where? I've soldered guitars before but this time I had a lot of feedback and squeeling so I thought I might've just been lucky those other times and got it right. Thanks, Trey.
  13. Not sure which topic to put this in, maybe this is the right one. Anyway, I'm refinishing a strat and want to get new tuning pegs but I'm not sure what kind is better than others. I looked at stewmac.com and they have them listed with 14:1 gear ratios and 18:1 gear ratios and it seems like the higher the more expensive. What is the difference?
  14. A couple of questions before I spray my guitar. If you've sanded you're guitar down to the grain, what do you clean it with before sparying? Just water, or something else. And also, I have a little ding in my guitar that I wanna fix before I spray. It's not very deep at all but since I've sanded down this much I might as well fix it. I'm not doing a wood grain finish so the color of whatever filler I use shouldn't matter. What would you guys use?
  15. Thanx for the help, I'll try rewiring it tomorrow.
  16. My friend has a Galveston bass guitar that I'm refinishing. I need to know what kind of sanding sealer was used on it or where I might could look to find out. Thanx for the help.
  17. I got a Squier Bullet for Christmas just to practice my painting before I dpainted my Tom Delonge. Problem is, I made the mistake of not remembering how it was taken apart (electrically). I know that Fender has a site with all the wiring diagrams but they don't have one for Squier and there's also to Squier Bullets. One that has only one pickup (the one I wanted) and one with three pickups (the one I got). So I need to know how to wire it up. If you need more information as far as what all wires I have just let me know and I'll tell ya. Thanx for the help.
  18. If anybody knows, I'd really like to get done sanding this guitar but I don't wanna eat through more wood if I don't need to. To see the pic just copy and paste the website. Sry, it's too big. I don't know how to make them smaller. Thanx.
  19. I accidently sanded through part of the wood. Would I need to fill it in with some type of putty to get rid of the low spot or what should I do?http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j231/icetrey_21/IMG_0488.jpg PIC TOO BIG!!!!!!!!
  20. Thanx for the help guys, I think I'm gonna order me a robo-sander.
  21. What do you guys use to to sand inside the horns, besides your hands? Has anybody rigged up anything to sand them or do they make something to make it easier?
  22. I tried to make it pretty clear the first time if I didn't sry about that but I'm not painting over the paint that's already on the Fender. I'm sanding it down and painting it again. First with pink then with black. Both will be the same type of paint just with different color pigments. Is it ok, to paint one on top of the other if there both the same type of paint?
  23. I have a few different questions and didn't want to take up the whole forum. 1. Can I use the Behlen Nitrocellulose Stringed Instrument Lacquer that Stewmac sells as a clear coat on a guitar that's been painted with Krylon paint or do I need to use Krylon clear also? 2. I'm painting my Tom Delonge Fender pink with a black nautical star, in the video that I bought from Stewmac he didn't paint one color over another. But would it be ok using the Behlen Nitrocellulose Stringed Instrument Laquer with the color pigments and paint the whole guitar pink then tape off everything but the nautical star and paint it black right on top of the pink and then clear? And if I do that will there be a lil bump on the nautical star since it's 2 layers of paint or will the clear cover that? 3. Also on the video he uses the vinyl sealer on bare wood. If I use that do I need to sand down to the bare wood or can I do that over the sanding sealer that's already there? I already asked a question similar to this but now that I have a certain brand of paint I'm using I figure now it can be a yes or no question. I really appreciate anybody that can help me answer any of these few questions. Thanx a lot.
  24. Well, what's Racer X talking about with the superglue? I've never heard of anybody using that. Does it matter what kind of superglue? And if Racer X is the one answering this question do you know if my guitar's sanding sealer is polyurethane? Thanx.
