    Finally found the right one. i read that a 9v battery can be hacked. just one thing, im still not sure if i can just hook it up to the output in my guitar. it seems like you should be able to, since it has a built in preamp. http://www.hobbytron.net/CK324.html

    Ok, this is close, buy i dont understand exactly how a 9v battery could fit into the circuit. where would you wire it in? Thanks! Level indicator

    also, could i just wire this as a branch off of the output lead in my guitar? and what would i do if i need to increase the sensitivity of the device (if the guitar doesn't have strong enough output) I appreciate all your help. thanks a lot guys!

    OK, this isnt as much a wiring as it is a mechanism idea. you know those old gretchs with the switch that engaged the string mute? how sweet would one of those sound on a bass!

    Yeah, if the string spacing was wide enough. hell, why not make a line of three lengthwise single coil pickups- leave no mm of string undetected!

    Oh yeah, i had an idea. Laugh if you must. a one string guitar with a single coil pickup running lengthwise along the string. six poles on one string!

    also, do i have to be very careful not to sand through the sealer? does this occur easily? (stewmac sanding sealer spray, 320 grit paper) Thank you

    hi everyone- Ive been reading around the forum, and now im thoroughly confused. is it possible to apply a coat of wood stain after the sanding sealer has been applied? my spalted maple didnt take in the stain too well, and after sanding a coat of the sealer i accidentally sanded a little through the stain. is it possible to reapply the stain now? what about in areas that still have the sealer? Thanks a lot!

    I have a 20/40 watt iron, and i had upped to 40. wasnt aware of the guitar wattage rule! Ill try that test. thanks for the advice!

    hi everyone i was soldering a cap on my volume pot, and after a prolonged period of soldering iron application i realized the solder wasn't melting because I had set up my heat-sink wrong. i felt the cap and it was too hot to touch. should i try to replace it incase it has been damaged by the heat? how heat sensitive are dipped mica caps? thanks a lot!
