  1. Thanks thats what i figured. i appreciate it!
  2. i know there are a million posts on it, but when you say ca glue is superglue, do you mean its the same stuff that comes in those tiny "krazy glue" squeeze things? would a couple of those work for pore filling? Thanks!
  3. Hi! Just superglue-covered my spalted maple and block sanded. the glue filled the impurities well, but of course this resulted in shiny spots where the glue still remains. Is this going to show a lot after final finishing? If so, what should I do!! thanks!
  4. looks great hyunsu! in regards to the fretboard sliding, I have always used a thin nail, about 3/16" long, inserted between the neck and fretrboard before gluing. This way the pieces will clamp together, and the nail, which sticks a little into both pieces, will secure the two parts. i believe this has been noted on the forum before?? keep up the good work!
  5. I dont understand the credit card method. do you angle the card in the direction that you move it (more of a compacting feel) or a way from the direction you move it (a scrapng feel). Also, wouldn't this leave scratches that would be too deep for 220 grit? Thanks!
  6. Thats what I was wondering. I didn't think of the filler filling the sanding scratches! Thanks a lot!
  7. But what's the benefit of sanding to 400 if you follow it with 120 to remove excess grain filler? Thanks!
  8. Hi! 2 questions- Is it possible to stain after grain filler treatment? Also, Did I completely waste my time sanding to 400 grit before applying the filler, since it has to be sanded off? Thanks!
  9. Sounds good. Yeah the cutaways have been giving me trouble!
  10. Hey everyone! Im nearing finishing, and im doing my final sanding. my guitar has a mahogany body, so the end grain shows all round the sides. I noticed that a vibrating sander creates a more scratch free finish, since it doesnt necessarily sand in one direction, which is good because of course the end grain has no direction. is there any rule that says a vibrating sander shouldnt be used as the final sanding step? would it be wise to end with 400 grit paper instead? Thanks a bunch!
  11. Actually, Ive seen jointers used a lot for planing. If your wood is the right size a jointer will often do a clean, accurate job. Love the wood!
  12. I used the Stewmac saw and Stewmac fretwire, so it's unlikely, but the thought had crossed my mind.
  13. I have a drill press! Something about it doesn't work. It just doesn't line up right, and it requires too much force!
  14. Hi! Do any of you have one of those Stewmac Jaws Fret Presses that I could borrow for a week? Im not sure that I will be making another guitar, and I would hate to spend $130 for a one time deal. Ive tried ALL of the other methods, and made many jigs, but I cant get anything to work. Thanks a lot!
  15. Thanks, I was just wondrin because it has such a dull black top
  16. Hi! I purchased a licensed Fender tele bridge pickup on ebay, and I was wondering if tele bridge pickups are supposed to have a cover? If so, where would I find one, since Im not sure a regular strat cover fits. Thanks a lot!
  17. Haha! radio shack! the king of consumer electronics! they dont have a single 250k pot, let alone a 250k audio taper pot! Yeah, ill check with Brian. How long does he usually take to ship? Im in a bit of a rush! Thanks!
  18. Hey everyone! Does anyone know where I can buy JUST ONE! 250k audio pot without paying like $5 shipping? (no good elec stores anywhere near me!) Thanks a lot!
  19. One thing, a transparent pickguard would REALLY show scratches! Cool idea though
  20. photobucket cant upload from a mac. sorry! i hate pic teases as much as anyone!
  21. That's basically the same idea, except you need to already have the sawdust. I like the film canister idea! Ive been using ziploc bags, but the sawdust sometimes sticks to the sides
