Heya, love the site, been lurking off and on, decided to take the plunge! I have a luthier who built me a body and neck to my specs and i’m planning on taking over the finishing and final assembly. It’s based on the Ibanez RG platform, but with better materials. The Body is a laminate of Purpleheart and Wenge stripes with Maple wings and the neck is Wenge /PH and a PH fretboard. the Wenge and Purpleheart contrasts are really striking. The maple is figured, but not uniformly, however I’m considering a couple ideas for the finish. 1st run I attempted to do a mottled almost stakned glass effect with random patterns, loosely following the grain pattern, however I’m not taken by it, I amd going to sand down and have another go. With more deliverate geometric patterns, I think.
