I saw him play here in the Philippines last year when he did guitar clinics across Asian cities. He's one hell of a musician. He seemed like a real nice guy, too.

anyway, i use those discs on two strats and are doing fine. then again, i don't really wave my guitar around like a madman when playing. i've only dropped a guitar once in 12 years in the first place, so i guess i'm not a good judge of the sturdiness/reliability of the dunlop lokstraps.

i just built the Ultra Clean Power Supply project from generalguitargadgets.com and i'm really happy with it. it's my first successful electronics project.

Those prices are really nice, I hope tomorrow when I go to the guitar stores they have a few so i can check em out:)

yes, electronic tuners. check buzzfeiten.com. it cites tuners, like the Korg DT-7, which suitable for use with BFTS equipped instruments.

i'm not sure what you mean by "knock-off."

i do have these decent ceramic single coils that came from a Chinese strat of mine. if not for the fact that they were terribly microphonic, they would have been nice. the alnico pickups from an old Fernandes strat of mine are good.

well, if you want to go ahead with the ebay auction, we can't stop you. personally, i'd just go look for a used DiMarzio or something. then order a real BL pickup afterwards.

No, that's a 'fake.' That's a Bill Lawrence USA pickup (Wajcman). There's a huge difference, or so I hear.

I believe the first Squiers were made in Japan (the "good" ones), and then Korea later on. I think some Squiers are made in Indonesia now.

This reminds me of an old Dimebag interview in Guitar World. From what I recall, he expressed his disdain for having security tightly barring fans from getting on stage and stuff. He didn't mind the audience having a piece of the action on stage even at the risk of getting himself hurt and gear damaged.

I bought a set of eagle inlays from him. Tony's a nice guy: sent the package even before he received my payment via BidPay.

As for the inlay set itself, they're not bad. They are a bit thin though, so putting them on a low-radius board might be a bit challenging. I'm also not sure if the smallest eagles will fit on the higher frets. I can't really tell right now because a friend of mine is installing it for me.

I wouldn't be surprised if those "blanks" are junk. They're likely to be scraps and rejects. Hell, they look awful already in the pics.

if you order from small bear, you might as well buy the rest of the stuff you need and then some. who knows if you get the urge to build another pedal with some hard to find component again.

i'll probably be making some orders of my own later, and i'm no closer to America than you are.

I was looking into the Blue Magic OD pedal. The guy running GGG seems to be high on that pedal, and you remarked in your website how you liked it too. But how does it compare to the TS-808?

Jazz model, perhaps? But maybe you could find some place that sells those pickups cheaper? guitarelectronics.com, for example sells the Alnico II Pro for US$76.30 a piece.

it's been said here several times that tung oil is terrible in terms of protecting the wood from the elements compared to, say, lacquer.

i'm skeptical about using your varnish, as i haven't tried it myself. but hey, if you're willing to see for yourself, why not?

buying a new body would be great, but weren't you remarking about how you love your guitar's sound? that'll probably change. whether it's for the better or not, that'll depend on your ears.

if you want finished strat bodies that are much cheaper, there are stuff like Mighty Mite's. they even have unfinished ones if you want to use tung oil. someone else will have to comment on the quality, though.

yes. but you might have a hard time hiding the edges of the cloth if you don't do a burst.

if the tie-dye only needs to be at the guitar's top/front, then material finishing is fine.
