  1. Here's where I suck, I always screw up these tight areas around the neck and have to re-finish. I also botched the fretboard trying to drill for 2 side dots, I'm opting for this hideous scallop instead i guess. Notice my fret sawing is also lack luster, maybe a multi-scale now lol
  2. I thought it would add some stability, even though my poplar is pretty dry and I haven't seen any twisting in my other builds with this slab. It may be over kill though, I hope I can get the strings to pull a slight bow in the neck under tension, but I may have to utilize my dual-action truss rod to create the bow. I'm also going with a gibson style wrap around bridge, in case I didn't get the neck angle just right. After about 5 layers of poly it has really darkened the wood. I would like to build a spray booth so I use some pre-cat lacquer eventually.
  3. This is my current stage, sanding poly.
  4. I glued the neck, it also painted black. I like poly instead of lacquer cause its cheap and dries fast.
  5. I chose to paint the edges of the body since I burned them so bad with cheap router bits and drum sanding, maybe I'll try binding next time.
  6. I went back to natural and decided not to carve the top so it ended up more like a Gibson double cut, I also used a selector switch instead of a toggle.
  7. I tried a stain but didn't like it so I sanded it all off
  8. Here's the mock up before I glued the neck, I used wenge for the fretboard and tweaked the head stock a little with the drum sander
  9. This is my current build and I haven't documented the process very well so forgive the lack of photos. This guitar is based on a PRS custom 24. It's a 2 piece Poplar body and 6 piece poplar neck. This is the first tenon I've attempted but it wasn't that hard, especially with the template I found https://www.guitarts.de/guitar-building-plan/.
