  1. well for the electric I narrowed down the design choice if it ever happens. The design is...... Telemaster dundundundundun! I will most likely try and find a good sounding standard tele pickup set, or get a vintage sounding tele neck pickup and a twangbucker, or may use lipstick tube pickups (this is a vintage styled build)

  2. I recently started to build an A/B box in an old printer power supply box ( sans PCB and power cord) Would the plastic case be ok if I just shielded the mounting holes for the jacks and the switch or do I need to go to radioshack or the hardware store and get an enclosure or a junction box?

  3. Well i finally am updating this the little bandsaw couldn't handle the wood so I'm trying another guy from my church who has a big enough bandsaw.

I also ordered the original pickguard I was going to go with because I found out that I could not order the custom one with the pickups I wished to. I am alsogoing to just buy a pre-fretted rosewood fretboard and save the cocobolo fretboard for my next project (more on that later on).

  4. I'm am about $1.50 away (not counting shipping) from having enough money to order the pickguard and the bridge from GFS.

I'm trying to locate a bandsaw to cut out the body. My friend scott has one but we'd have to cut out the body one side at a time because it is a small bandsaw.

  5. I cut the poplar today so that it was into two 20" long pieces and then I trimmed up the edges using a tablesaw to make it nice and square and glued it up today.

EDIT: I've decided to go for the pricier ($95 more if you want to be exact) custom handwired pickguard from guitar fetish. It may be more costly but if it costs that much more it is probably a whole lot better quality than if I went with the $40 pre wired one. Plus I could go with the fender style humbuckers if I wanted to.

  6. I'm reusing the neck, I didn't like the fretboard that was on it, especially since it was urinated on by my mom's cat. I didn't exactly pull the fret i just broke the board into pieces I had to hammer four or five out and those are the ones that I ruined. I have lists made which I re-write nearly everyday. And as for a list of parts I have a folder in my favorites with links to guitarfetish for parts and a link to stewmac for finishing supplies.

    So far I need to:

    1) Collect scrap metal and use cash earned to buy parts and supplies needed. (a whole nother list)

    2) Either buy or borrow router bits and practice routing cavities in plywood or particleboard until I feel ready to route on guitar body.

    3) Find someone to help with the fretwork.

    4) Find someone willing to either let me use their bandsaw to cut out the body shape or will cut it for me if they are not comfortable with letting me use their power tools.

    5) Find someone able to spray finish onto guitar.

As I've learned from here and from experience building an electric guitar that looks good, plays well, and sounds good will take more than a month, if not even half a year to even a whole year to finish from planning to finishing.
