  1. WAY COOL!!! I like the 'George Lynch ESP' thing going on

I was wondering if anyone was going to make that association. He was a big reason why I started playing guitar. I always wanted a Kami but couldn't afford one. This was inspired by the Kami but has some differences in shape, ...

Did you recess the floyd? Which floyd did you use? What is the radius on the floyd?

It is recessed and routed for pull-up. I used a Schaller Floyd with a 14" radius.

I like the George Lynch ESP stuff...I gotta chance to play the first Kami's that came out...loved it. I really want the Serpent, which I beleive they have discontinued this year.

When I get to a point when I feel a little more confident, I wanna build a Kami style with the recessed floyd.

    Questions again:

Did you have to make the body thicker to recess the floyd?

  2. YDoesGodMockMeSo,

Looks good so far. I used the JPM from the download section (other than the handle, I don't see much diffence between the JPM and the JEM, except for maybe the JEM has a deeper cutaway maybe) to make the body below. As far as suggestions, just do what you want with the routes, it is your guitar.

    lovekraft,

When you have used the CA to fill, have you ever had any problems with staining or tung oiling? Does the glue create "gaps" or "streaks" from not taking the stain or oil?

  3. Well, while trying to shave down the neck on the padauk guitar, I obviously cut it too thin because this happened:

So, following the tutorial, I steamed the fretboard off. This was definately a lesson in what not to do. Obviously the glue job was not that great, as it took less than an hour to take off. Maybe if I had intentions of regluing it, I would have been more patient.

The good news is that I was able to salvage the trussrod. Since my Stew Mac order won't be coming until Monday (damnit), maybe I can get started on finishing the Bubinga neck.

The truss rod to live another day:
