  1. U.K supplier of this unjacketed fiber anyone ??
  2. As stated, I wish to purchase either an inlayed, slotted or unslotted fretboard ( But definatly inlayed) ( Standard dot markers; would consider others). or a Broken or damaged Neck. I'm after these things relativly cheaply as it is merely for testing l.e.d installation, Would consider all. Email me or respond on here alexgazz@hotmail.com Cheers.
  3. I found the perfect colour in halfords , however the can looked about 2 years old . and they only had one.. bastards.
  4. Bump- Sorry about the bump But I could really use some help on what the best process is to use, i've used the search feature and the processes all seem to vary. Whats your preference when it comes to process ?
  5. Yeah, that scared me off at first too...but since I had a couple of beater necks here, I had nothing to lose. The tutorial is helpful but should be updated --I think a lot of people have found that it's too extreme. I spent more time doing the first neck --using lots of steam etc taking my time. But then I decided the steam idea was unneccessary --it's the heat that does the work. Steam might be necessary for neck joint--because .... ...Anyway, practice on a beater neck before moving on to fretboards you want to keep. ..Ohh right i'll give it a go with the old heat then ! lol.
  6. Seriously ? is that all ? Most people have said crazy things like 1hr and half - Have you ever tried it on a cheap as you like neck, what was the problem like with inlays deforming etc ?
  7. Hey there , does anyone know of a shop in the u.k - online or otherwise where I can buy finger boards separatly, but with inlays and fret wire. and is it possible to buy the necks without fingerboards as it would be good to make up some led necks without having to steam apart a prebought one or make my own.
  8. Hey guys , i've heard several people inquiring as to how they could make leds blink or flash in time to their playing , its as simple as some leds, a transistor and a 3way switch, Some basic knowledge on circuits such as parallel and series would help you greatly - I found this on a website that gives a simple circuit :- http://www.makezine.com/blog/archive/2006/...ve_blinkin.html To use this circuit it needs to be modified , i've written how and drawn a diagram. Where the p2 connector is you merely connect to the 2 wires going to your jack and where it says 12vdc you can use any power you like such as 9v as long as you remember to change the leds you have connected where it says - The 3 way switch means you can choose between on, off or blinking. Here is a simplified version drawn by myself - I in no way claim to have designed this circuit. I accept no liability for you building this circuit and damaging stuffs, this is a freely available document I found on the internet and merely provided some info on how you could change it slightly to meet your needs, In theory I believe this should work but I suggest you try it yourself using temporary joins etc before installing into a guitar. ( I HAVE NOT DONE THIS MYSELF, AND CANNOT CONFIRM IT WILL WORK) P.S- Make sure you have those leds wired up right, you may fry one if not - or they may not light if you do not know how to wire your leds correctly, remember if you plan on using leds that require less voltage/current than your power is providing then use a resistor( It's advisable to use a current limiting resistor anyway )
  9. Ahh I wasn't sure what was required to fit a locking nut , I didn't realise that you would need to route out etc. Cheers guys .
  10. Hey guys I was just wondering if anybody knows of a manufacturer that makes an apple green trans that would be suitable for putting over a metallic silver to create a nice effect. I'm not sure what the green would be, a laquer I presume ? -any help would be great Crap, forgot to say -- I need a dreaded rattle can version.

    Wanted

Well the only issue would be trying to get the cash to you, and of course the price of the shipping. It would be good if I could find someone in the U.K. - What neck style is it and how much would you ask ?

Hey guys, I didn't know where to put this post - but anyway carrying on. I'm after a cheap as you like neck ( Under £30 , £20 if you can manage it ) Its really just for practicing techniques on such as led installation and inlay, it would be nice if it was useable and true, however its not a priority. Does any body have such a neck that they would be willing to sell to myself. ( I'm in the U.K ) or anyone know of anywhere to buy a really cheap neck ( Bar ebay - getting annoyed , the last 4 I bid on got snatched from under my nose ). Thanks... Alex Would be preferable if the neck had fret markers .
  14. I am planning on installing a trem yes, not sure if its locking , are all trems locking ? The item doesn't state that it is locking lol . I just thought it would look cool with a locking nut.
  15. Hey guys i was just wondering if anybody had a tutorial to show how you change a standard nut to a locking nut on a premade cheap strat neck i picked up, as I think it would look sweet to have a gold locking nut on a strat. Any advice would be safe . cheers guys ( P.s - Didn't really know which area to put this under )
  16. Hi guys I'm just here to pick your brains, i'm soon to be moving onto my first painting project and i'm after a green metallic. The first question is this : Shall I use a regular green metallic all in one car paint jobby. or shall I spray silver then a transparent green over the top - which would you say gave the best result. I'm figuring it would be silver first then transparent green. The second question is this - what do you guys think of this painting process that I have bumping around my head. Sealer--> Sand --> Sealer ---> Scuff up ---> silver paint ---> sand smooth ---> silver ----> silver ---> silver ----> sand ---> silver ---> silver ---> trans. green ---> trans green ----> trans green ---> Scuff up ---> clear coat ---> scuff ---> clearcoat ---> clearcoat ---> polish. This does seem a bit long winded .. but I reckon that would get a near perfect finish, anyway what do you guys think. What painting process do you use ? Whats your preferred sealer ? Ohh and what are your thoughts about leaving your guitar drying in the sun as I am planning on doing this in summer in britain, as I have nowhere else to spray so it will be outside. but yeah just a " few " questions lol. Any help would be appriciated i'm planning on going for a metallic strat with led neck ( Custom led neck by myself ) with black pickguard and chrome fittings. Cheers guys.
  17. Hey guys thanks for all your help- I've seen some really nice ones so far ( my bank balance doesn't agree ) I'm thinking of going for some duncans and probably get them from ebay.co.uk Cheaper and all that jazz. Thanks
  18. Hi there , new to the forums - Been hanging around and reading the posts for a while. And i've just decided to customise a strat I have its a non-descript thing but its a pretty good replica. Does anyone know of a good place online ( In U.K) where I can get some decent replacement pickups ( Preferably in gold ) - Also is there anything I need to know regarding the Ohm value dealio as I really don't know what I am doing, is it as simple as buying new Pickups and wiring them where the old ones used to be ? Any help would be greatly appriciated-
