The pickups have arrived for Dave's bass. 2 ACG FatBas custom wound humbuckers with ceramic magnets in the bridge and Alnico 5 magnets in the neck.

Managed to get the neck carved today still have a load of sanding to do but the basic shape is there. I am using an asymmetric neck profile with this one.

is it weird that i have NEVER seen this guitar design before yet my new design sort of looks like it?
I wouldn't worry about it there is a finite limit to the varibles which produce a workable guitar it stands to reason that more than one person will arrive at the same place. The trick is I think to make the design as much your own as you can.

I like the maple top you have there. Overall it looks real good so far. One question, what kind of adjusting piece do you have on your truss rod and where did you get it?
Hi
It is a spoke nut wheel you can have a look at it at the following.

Finally got the neck fretted.

A good bit of progress made today.
The fingerboard has been profile and the neck pocket cut. Also got the pickup cavities routed out.

Hi
After some final discussions a few changes to the spec.
The headplate will now be in ebony with a black/maple veneer under it.
The tuners will now be sperzels because I can't source any Schaller locking tuners.
-
If there was a tearing your hair out in frustration smiley thats the one for me. (At least thats my excuse for my limited amount of hair.)
I love the finished effect but the build process can be problematic or at least it is for me.
-
The fretboard is amazing.
If i go down to the boarder can i visit you're workshop?
Hi John
You are more than welcome.
Just give me a phone before you come down so I can make sure I will be there.

That camphor burl looks cool as hell!
So does the limba and the fretboard too.
EDIT: Read the rules before you get in trouble for those pics BTW. You're allowed 1 big pic per post (640x480 max), but the rest have to be links or thumbnails.
The wood choices are Dave's and I think he has done a fine job.

I guess I should have had a look at the rules, cheers.
Your guitar, full on attitude excellent work.

Hi Ben
Good to hear from you. How are your projects coming along.
I am not over at mimf as much now that my own site is up and running their commercial policy is pretty harsh.

Hi Chris
The logo is cut with a CNC into an alloy former and a mold is then used to make the pickups. I got the former made by a local engineering works and the pickups are made by Aaron Armstrong.(Kents son.)
