Been working on a new body shape the results of which are below.

Thanks to Sugden for sorting out the render and to all the others for their input as always it is very much appreciated.

Beginning to take shape.

A few bits done over the last couple of weeks in between spraying.

I use set neck in all the single cuts and bolt on with the double cuts. I simply prefer set neck as a construction method to a thru neck I think it gives you what is good about a thru neck and a bolt on. It also uses less wood and as you say makes some options usable that would not be otherwise.

Some work done on the fretless 6 string.

Not as hard to play as you would think from a physical point of view.

All the wood work done on the J Type.

A bit more done on the 9.

Neck is now carved and the body contours done.

Some more work done on the 9 string.

Control cavity and battery compartment done as well as the backplate.

Claro Walnut on that one all though I can see why you would think it might be Mac Ebony.

Just about to start this Reurve.

The spec.

Black Limba body with a burl Redwood top black accent veneer.

Neck Wenge/Limba 5 piece with a quilted Maple fingerboard.

Redwood headplate wenge backplate and heel.

Green LEDs on the side of the neck.

The body wings glued on to the 9 string.

Contouring done on the J Type.

The heel is contoured to make it as unobtrusive as possible.

The wenge bass is working out well just started to spray it one of my least favourite jobs when building with wenge the pores take so long to fill.

It is a new feature a moveable nut, you decide which range of strings you want to use then position the nut accordingly I am sure it will catch on.

I got the strings from SIT.

The headstock roughed in today still to be smoothed out but you get the idea.

It is flat. Anything over a 6 string and I would be looking to go with a flat board.

Some progress on the 9 string. The fingerboard is now on and fretted along with the side dots boy does it take a lot of fret wire. I am just waiting for the headplate to glue up and I can get on with the headstock.

That is all the carving done on the Skelf just a few lines to tidy up then the sanding.
