OK, I picked up a Peavey 5150 212 combo a little over a week ago, and I love it. The only problem is it is way too loud for home use. I've seen volume boxes for sale on ebay for ~$20 that fit in the effects loop, and my suspicion is that it's nothing more than an audio pot and two 1/4" jacks in a project box.
Does anyone know anything about these boxes?
Are they just an audio taper pot and two jacks in a project box?
Does anyone know of an existing schematic if they are more than that?

Edited to add that I know this isn't a power soak, which sits between the power amp and the speaker.

Well, the Ebay ads claim it is a power soak, which is baloney.
Yes, it's just a couple of jacks, a pot and a box. I put a page on my website about building one, although that's not what I use it for and not why I built it.

I bought a GFS P90 off ebay, it sounds good but seems to be a bit microphonic. I get a lot of squeal at high volumes.
