is there some flame on that zebrano or are those some marks from a planer or sumtin?
-
so is there a vid where we can actualy see him play it, instead of hearing some funky bass stuff with no idea who is playing it on what...
he probaly made a fretless cuz he cant fret a neck.
reminds me of wishbass.com or sumtin like it, same lame stuff fretless cuz it takes no skills, and strings hanging on the edge of the fretboard...
kinda pathetic imo
-
if you grain fill with epoxy, youl seal the wood right, so how can you use oil finish when youve sealed the wood?? doesnt make any sence to me, but maybe im missing sumtin.

from what ive HEARD, schaller makes great floyd copies.

your not some secret undercover salesman for stewmac are ya??Are them dot inlays or block inlays? The dots you shouldn't need to pull anything. Blocks are a little trickier, but I found a way to radius them without pulling any frets. When you need to pull the frets you need a fret puller but it doesnt end there. Generally, unless you're a pro, you'll mangle the frets taking them out. So you'll need new frets. Then you'll need to cut and bend the frets to match the radius. Then of course, press. (not to mention leveling and filing)Yes I like Stewmac
You can buy a radius block and put sand paper on that, then put rub the inlay against the sandpaper. voila, preradiused inlays. Unless you like fret work, you shouldn't need to pull the frets.

hahaha, everyone seems to hate zachary guitars, i actualy like them alot

thats the last thing i expected when i read the title,
but damn i like it

rounder is more comfortable for chords, and flatter is more comfortable for soloing etc. ofcuz this also kinda relies on personal preference and opinion.I'm sure this has been asked at least 47,251 times by now, however i was unable to find the answer searching. With the fingerboard radius, is lower or higher better for chording and bending. I think that lower is better for chording, however i may be wrong.
I am going to test out new guitars and i am particularly interested in the '57 american vintage strats, however they have a '7.25 radius, i just need to know if this is going to seriously affect aspects of my playing, or if the difference is mostly mental. Thanks

wow how did you get that color??
black stain first and then sanded down and put green stain over it or sumtin??
anyway, looks awesome
-
u do know that old strings loose their tuning accuracy do you??I set it up with the old strings so will recheck intonation and action once my new strings arrive especially as I have gone from 10 to 11 gauge strings. -
damn i wish i could find anytype of usable wood at a roadside
-
you could try to get some wilkinson sadles, if you make a bridbe plate yourself or sumtin..
look at what he made a bridge plate out of ebony, and used wilkinson saddles.
-
you could try laqwuer thats uv protective (whatever its called) ive heard from some luthiers that thats the way to keep padouk and purpleheart wood keep their awesome color.. never tryd it myself thoughThe Padauk I have worked with didn't have that large of pores, but the wood is relatively open grained regardless. Epoxy / grainfill and put a clear coat on it! Padauk turns to a Walnut color over time and all that awesomeness will lose it's character (to me, at least). I've seen this happen with a few custom basses, I'd much rather have that bright orange color than a dark walnut color.

damn, that looks realy classy man, nice job!!
-
man, dont worry about what your design looks like, i think that most designs that already exists, or are close to ''a'' other guitar
dont worry about it and build a nice guitar
-
awesome guitar your making there.
i dig the headstock, i had a similar shape in mind for 1 of my guitarprojects
-
holy ****, i hafto get some bloodwood for a fretboard, thats looks sexy as F**k
actualy, their both sexy, but that fretboard realy turned me on
-
you mean a fretboard with NO radius??My fretwire's in and I've decided that I want to try out a flat fretboard, since I like ridiculously low action. That said, ridiculously low action probably requires some special considerations when building the fretboard.
My neck's flat. The fingerboard's stable. The fret slots are cut shallow, ready to be cut to final depth. Any hints on what to look out for and things to do to keep this thing under control?
Also, the fretboard's Padauk, 1/4 in thick at the moment.
my dad has a custom build guitar with no radius, i hate it, its kinda weird cuz your finger has to be realy flat for chords sweeps and stuff, i personaly like a radiused fretboard, but you could also make the radius realy flat like 20 inch or so?? it will seem realy flat, but its still slightly rounded, sweeps and chords will mostlikely be much more comfortable thatway, and its also moer natural for your hand i guess.
though thats my personal opinion

flamed maple fretboards look cool, im working on one at the moment, although it doesnt have a realy high grade flame i guess
-

Not to chase you away or anything, but you may want to check out the Zelfbouw forum at gitaarnet.nl/forum/. Small, but local communicty, good fun. We've got a meet planned for October, although exact details are still not quite clear to me.

hello peeps, im kiem, im 22 years old, and im gona try to build a guitar (hopefully a lot more in the future).
i just started building a telecaster, shape wise that is.
mahogany body
maple neck and flamed maple fretboard.
ive already found alot of tips on this site, and i seemed smart to join
also, nvm my english, im not very good at spelling and typing, so my writing doesnt make to much sence most of the time

hope its ok for me to post here, i didnt feel like making a new thread on maple finishing when there already is one.
how necesary isit to finish a maple fretboard??
i own a custom build guitar, wich has a unfinished maple neck (well its finished with oil, linseedoil i believe, not sure), wich feels great.
now ive just started building a tele with a maple neck and maple fretboard... can i finish a maple fretboard with some oil aswell, just like the neck on my other guitar???
the fretboard is flamed maple, would it look better with laque or with oil?? or doesnt it matter alot??
thnx kiem

since u cant choose between a parker fly and a iceman look at this site. maybe its an idea??I have got two guitars and I cannot choose which on to build, The Parker Fly and The Ibanez Iceman.
Im leaning towards the Fly with a bolt on neck. I would'nt really be much like a fly apart from the apperance. Also anyone who has built a Fly or somthing similar, Did you struggle with the headstock?

rosewood usualy gets lichter due to licht etc... most rosewoods ive seen atleast, like the realy dark purplish indian rosewood. Give it some sunlight for a some time and it can ( also depending on what type of finish i guess) turn to light brownish.
EDIT:
or put the guitar under a UV lamp if you dont want to wait for a year or more...
