I used alder and mahogany and finished it in a solid color.
the guitar has a nice warm sweet tone

one other thing to be concerned is will the saw mill cut it for you.
I know in Michigan the mills will not touch a tree from your yard or empty field/ lot.
you can never know if some one has put a nail in the tee and the tree just grew around it.
if you can get it done then awesome.

duncan 59 in bridge and neck.
the bridge has a great sound high or low volume and the neck pickup have a awesome warm sound
-
I put the neck angle in the heel when I used a prs style neck joint and had no trouble and it was one of the best neck joints I have done. I have use this kind of neck joint on my last 3 builds and all have turned out fine.

I would start by checking the blade might be dull or you need to adjust the guide blocks.
there might be uper and lower guide blocks that need ajusting.
-

-
I have bought bits from home depot and Lowes saved money and they work fine.

strat set up rio grande muy grande or a set of texas special

therer is a lot of different ways of sanding.
I use a oscillating spindle sander and a lot of hand sanding.
I spend a amount of time sanding before any finish is sprayed.
-
I use 3/4 with no trouble.
-
vary nice awesome job on your build.
I like the control cavity big enough to get things in with no trouble.
-
amp overdrive works best for me.
there are times when I just turn the amp up and let it rip. when you want it clean turn the volume on the guitar down.
that is the best set up for me.

I have used alder for backs and maple or ash for tops.
the sound it great. I love the sweet sound alder has and with a maple top vary cool.
on one guitar that I painted a solid color I used alder back with a mahogany top.[ painted blue]

I have 3 guns 2 are devilbiss. one pint gun [ I would call it a touch up gun] it works great for spraying color. the second gun is bigger I use it for clear.I only use the big gun for spraying clear lacquer.
I just bought a top feed gun from harbor freight and it works great 39.00 sale price 16.00
the compressor is a emglo model Emglo AM99-HC4V 2 Horsepower 5.6 CFM Compressor
Yield 125 PSI with air line regulator with twin tanks
small but enough to spray finish all day long and use a nail gun when I need it put new shingle on my house.
looking on Amazon dewalt has the same kind for 250.00 with free shipping.
I spray using 35 psi. make sure your gun is clean and free from dirt and old finish.
-
looking good I like the body shape post more picture when you get them.
-
when finishing a project I wait a couple days between coats.
finish needs time to harden between coats
-
I used alder with ash top
the top being 3/4 thick and it takes more time to carve it out and the finish is fine as long as you do a good job at sanding.
