Hi I have email jeff and he has told me that he bought a used variax to get the electronics to use in his guitar.

he also told me the top is 1/2 thick and the back is 1 1/4 thick

if you think his guitar look awesome [they do] you need to listen to his cd fly by wire.

angle the neck tenon.

I used a small hand plane and the edge sander it turned out fine.

be sure you mark out the angle you want with a protrator.

boogie v-twin preamp and a boogie mark 3 for the in your face sound.

the other amps are all old black face fender stuff. vibroluxe twin and prinston.

I like the fender stuff for just about everything. blues and clasic rock when using the v=twin preamp.

the fender stuff has stood the test of time to be a great amp.

how do you likie the pickups.

I use 3 different porter cable router and 1 dewalt all have been vary good and take the 1/2 collet.

I use small hand plane and spoke shave when roughing out a neck .

there great tool as long as you keep them sharp.

the power tools [ router] I use to rout the body shape and pickup cavity.

: No idea for the 240v.

could you get some kind of adapter that would let you use a 110v .

like a voltage regulator if there is such a thing available in britain.

ask around there must be other guitar builder in Britain see what they use.

I built a guitar with a alder back and ash top with a string through bridge

I used duncan jb in the bridge and a 59 in the neck.

this has a nice bright sound with the jb and deep rich with the 59 in the neck.

the HotRod, are great.

I have used them for a few years with no trouble and I have put them in upside down [ they will work backwards] no big deal. I use 1/4 slot and use the tape to snug the block at both ends.

Hi I have a tele with a standard tele bridge pickup and I have two strat pickups in the middle and neck. I like this set up its like having 2 guitars.

if you don't need the strat bridge pickup this might be a cool thing for you.

also look into the James Burton tele has 3 strat pickups. a friend I work with has this model.

I have used the Scary sharp [using the sand paper] and it works great.

read up on this method and give it a try.

I love working with my spokeshave.

how are you sharping it. it might just need a little different angle on the cutting blade.

they will work the best when they are vary sharp.

I have good results when I set for a light cut.

your question sound like when your routing the end grain.

if this is what your asking I can tell you that end grain is much harder to rout.

I would say try and take less off at one time when routing end grain.

what I do in this case is sand or cut more and rout less when working with this kind of grain.

Dual Rectifier? is a sweet amp.

there are so many different sounds you can get with this amp. you will be vary happy with this one.

one things with the boogie stuff is it sounds better the more you turn it up.

I have used blood wood for fret boards and it works nice.

for carving the neck after things are glued up I start with a spoke shave to rough out the neck then go with a rasp.

I always tape off the back wood so you don't get stain on

I would stay with 3 pieces as the choice of wood I would go with maple or a combination of maple and walnut.I'm not sure using oak for the body will give you a good tone.
