your guitar cord might be bad or the ground wire might be loose in your wiring.

yes birds eye maple and flame maple can be tricky.

slow down and take small cuts.

when you get tear out on any wood you should try and turn the wood around.

so you feed the oppisite direction you just jointed.

I have done it countless times just never had to explain it.

I had a couple of different teachers at the same time.

each teacher has a different aproch I think.

then I stoped going and that is when I learned the most about playing.

I started my own band then all the teachers stuff made sence to me.

I like being the lead and the other guy's follow me.

sometimes it just take a little thing to put things in a different light and everything is clear.

for me it was when a friend past away and he always would ask me why don't you play in a band. that is whan I strated my own and it has been a great time good and bad.

you might try this. I had a can of tung oil varnish I have no idea where it came from.

I use tung oil varnish on a neck just to see what it was like.

I wiped it on about 10 coats and let dry over night between coats. I sanded with 400 grit sand paper after each coat.

you can tell when you getting a nice finish built up then sand it with 600 grit to get a nice smooth finish that feels nice and will protect the neck.

after doing this and reading about different hand finishes this might be close to a frech polish kind of finish.

anyone can have a strat or tele shaped body and there is nothing wrong with that.

now this might not be everyone style of guitar but you might just be on to something.

if it plays and your cool with it then I say you rock. I like the different wood you have used.

I built a prs style guitar with alder back and a 3/4 ash top.

I like it and as for the sound being bright or sterile, flat.

not at all the sound is full in your face kind or sound.

the tone is vary sweet when played clean and no tone lost when you get dirty.

it is vary hard to carve as maple would be but it got there it just took a litle time.

try epoxy putty for filling in the low spots.

this will not shrink and is vary hard but at the same time you can sand it.

I think wood craft sells the stuff.

all of them I say that is a tough question.

I made a prs copy with a cherry neck no troiuble.

cherry is easy to work with and looks good when you spray color.

I don't want to sound harsh either but you need to really feel the blues to get the point.

Jimi Hendrix, Gary they are different player I would say both awesome but Hendrix used a strat with single coil and Gary more a gibson las paul with humbuckers both sound great but diffent sounds.

look at how they play and they play like every show is there last.

doing everything they can with there guiitar to squeeze the life from there fingers to get there tone.

I use devilbiss spray guns and they both work fine.

small gun for color and the big gun for clear.

what ever you get it might take some time to get the hang of using it.

there is a epoxy bondo that would work good

the stuff is a little more work to sand but is vary hard

looks like curly oak to me.

I would say that it is hard to find.

way back in the day you would see it in furniture [ nice fancy stuff $$$]

I have not seen much curly oak these days it should look great in any project.

could you show pictures of the neck head stock,

if the body look that good the whole guitar must be a sweet looker.

the ebony is a cool thing and would play vary nice.

my thought is birds eye maple fret board with paduak veneer between the neck and birds eye maple fret board.

I used this when I finished a neck and things turned out great.

the pigment mixed with lacquer to get the color you want.

the carvin bass wood is maple .

maple body and maple neck fret board.

I have a prs artist and a custom 22. they both look flat where the pickups and neck are.

to avoid cutting into the neck and pickup area I put a piece of wood using double stick tape so it will be removed when done with the carving.

this is done after the pickup and neck is routed.

now if your doing the carving by hand you can't carve into ther spot that has the wood double stick taped to the body.

for carving I used a small 1'' palne and scrapers and files then sanded everything smooth.

I have the jet bench top also and it is great.

the jet looks better built then the delta.

jet is all metal frame and the delta is plastic.

yes I rout the neck cavity before starting to carve the top.

rose wood no finish

maple yes needs finish.

Hi I have done a couple of these and carved the top by hand. I routed for the pickups and bridge before starting the carved top.

you may already have this in mind.

I worked in a lumber yard years ago and if I remember correct beech is a hard wood vary much like hard maple.

if your going to laminate so you have the end grain will be glued to the finger board.

I think you willbe o.k.

stew Mac saw table saw blade is the way to go.

I bought one last year and the slots are nice tight and clean.

I have used it on rose wood blood wood and maple no trouble all came out great.
