  1. Thanks for your input evryone. However, the general consensus seems to be that it's best to use an acrylic mirror when doing a mirror top in one piece. For a shattered mirror top one should best use the real stuff, and handcut all the pieces. (More control over the pattern this way.) Kamnguitars has some nice examples on their website. (http://kamn.brinkster.net) Just need some more input about the gluing and sealing part.
  2. I've done a fair bit of reading on the subject. But I'm still not quite sure how to go about this. There's an old (pink) Ibanez RG (no pickguard) standing in the corner of my room. Since I don't care much for the pink color I've been thinking about refinishing it. I've always liked the mirrorball Iceman that Paul Stanley (Kiss) used in the 70's. I'd like to try something similar. If I'm correct I should first route out the top. (Thickness of the mirror.) Then cut a mirror to the shape of the guitar body. (A template of the RG body would come in handy. Has anybody got one ?) Cut pieces off of the mirror, grind the cuts to somewhat of a bevel, glue the mirror onto the top. Drill screw holes through the mirror pieces. Mount the hardware. Questions are : Does the glue need to stay a bit flexible or is it better to use a glue that cures hard ? What kind of drill bits do you use for drilling through glass ? Is there someone around with some experience with a similar project ?
  3. Oldschool Sepultura, with Max. Beneath the remains, Roots.... Hands down.
  4. Boss GX700 as the centre of my setup with a Roland FC200 midi footcontroller as switch pedal. BBE 386 acoustic pre amp in the GX's effects return for the “unplugged” moments. (So I can go from acousic to electric with the flick of a switch and can still use all kinds of effects.). Rocktron Banshee talkbox connected to the effects send. Marshall 8008 power amp. For speakers I can use 2 12" wedges as monitors, or when it has to look like something on stage, I can connect 2 4x12's. As far as guitars go I use an Ibanez RG470FMR, 2 Hohner L59 Les Paul copies, a Squire strat, an Aria (nylon string) acoustic and an Ovation Celebrity CC257 Deluxe (steelstring). The electric guitars all go through a Rexer wireless (diversity) system, connected to the rear input of the GX. (Leaving the front input available, in case of a breakdown in the wireless system.
  5. Thanks everyone for the warm welcome ! I've been browsing around these forums for quite some time now. The only bad thing about that is that I keep getting exiting idea's for my own first project. Might as wel get started and sacrifice an old Squier strat I have lying around somewhere, so I can learn the basics.
  6. Hi everyone. I'm new to the whole concept of building your own instruments. Up untill now I've only set up my guitars, changed pickups, pot's etc. I've been interested in building or customizing guitars for a long time. However, I never worked up the courage to start. Found this forum a while ago. I think with all the information here I can finally start on some of my projects. Cheers
  7. Better late than never. You might find some info here. Otherwise google for "chaser light guitar". Kiss tour 1979
