What do you think, what will be best scales to use in 5- string bass? 33" to 35" or 34" to 35"? I think that 34" to 35" will be better because 5- string fretboard is not that wide.

Hmm.... I am just wondering, who has that kind of fingers that he/she can play those upper strings. My wrist doesn't bend that kind of unnatral position. But i had to admit, Looks god damn fine to me. Actually i has also planned to build 5- string, fanned and headless bass. Lets see how it goes.

Hi i talk exactly about fanned fretboard. I get the right name few moments ago. This my wild ques only: Is it so that scale comes directly from 2^n/12 rule? What i mean is that you take example 35" scale for thick string and 34 for narrow string and calculate fret positions for them. Then you just draw the line between different scale fret point and thats it.

Hi all I am planning to build headless, 5 stringed bass guitar in near future. I have some sick things in my mid, which i like to try (own designed bridge tuner, body style, etc) One thing what i like to try is compund scale fretboard. Does anyone have therical information how frets should be calculated?
