Compatibility of the finish and the paint used in the design is important. Test on a scrap piece. If the paint used in the design is too thick you might run into a problem when trying to sand smooth (level the finish) and sand through the finish right into your design.

I second that. WOW!

Need Jazz bass P/U's for a Fender Jazz copy. Prefer passive unless someone has a good set of active cheap. PM me if you have such.

Change my vote to Brian.

Uhhhhh! Welcome, I think.

Wow! That is one beautiful piece. I'd love to buy into that one, but right now a bandsaw is more important to me.

Why walmart? Other alternatives
Pick guards are fairly inexpensive, but if you must use WM you could use a plastic garbage can and cut one out of it. Look in the tutorials there is a post showing a plastic garbage can being used as a cover plate.

Good work on all the entries, but unfortunately someone has to win so I say TSL!
Love that spalt.

Whoa, bad luck. I'd try to inject epoxy into the crack as you stated and clamp. Wait for others with more experience with this issue just make sure I am not wrong. Good luck.

Mighty fine piece of tree that is!

I like mine, but Litch's avatar makes me want to jump her bones.
Bowser's too!

They seem to be priced OK. They will supply plenty of air for your projects. Add oil and water filters and start spraying.

Hi, my name is Wes and I'm an alcholic.. Oh sorry wrong forum.
No really I don't drink. But I do work on guitars from band members and other friends. I have had so many different guitars it was easier for me to work on them than it was to take them in for repairs.
I am 47, and have been playing 26 years now and been repairing and building guitars for 7 years. I was lucky to have a good teacher. Lynn Ellsworth who started Boogie Bodies guitars. He was the first authorized Fender replacement parts builder. He split up with a man named Warmoth who a lot of you have heard about (Warmoth Guitars) and also Wayne Charvel of Charvel/Jackson guitars.
I learned a lot while working there part time (for free). But I did get one fantastic guitar out of the deal. I built a strat body out of claro walnut with a cocobolo neck and fret board.
I currently am working on a caribburst fretless "P"bass. I am by no means professional, but it is pretty much the only work I do. Also I play bass in a nameless blues/rockabilly band. 14 years, we have played without a name. It has to be some sort of record.
I spend a fair amount of time here in the forum. If I ever post information it is because I have some knowledge on that subject (except the slam thread on which I just make stuff up).

I just sent out a nice piece of stair step & quilt to be bookmatched, but was told it is now warped too badly to saw.
AND I can't stop staring at that top.

Mighty fine piece of work and a very nice matched top.

now that is very nice! one of a kind, I'm surprised I haven't seen that done before.
Easy to do with a cloth top finish. Just tie dye some linen and glue it to the guitar and finish it with clear.

Rhoads56 thank you for helping to correct the earlier erroneous suggestions. That was some sad BS posted.

strats aren't made out of mahogany......................................
some ash some alder, a few poplar..........
yeah and if you dont like strat headstocks, then you can design your own or use on you like, that's the beauty of building your own guitar...
Mine is mahogany and everyone who hears or plays it like it!

I don't know what the currency exchange rate is, but these are damn cheap! I bought two just to have. They play very well for the price and are multi piece alder with maple neck and rosewood fret board. Good for what you are doing.
