  1. clothtop4.jpgI built this guitar using the idea of fabric as a finish. I found a site that does marbled fabric and liked the looks. The body is mahogany with very rough routing making it hard to cover wih the pickguard which is slightly off centered. I used Minwax polyurethane spray over Minwax polyurethane sanding sealer. The fabric was applied as the tutorial. I purchased it on ebay with bridge and jack for $15.00. The neck is an old Boogie Bodies neck that was laying around their shop. It is maple on rosewood, one piece, 14" radius. Bought pickups and pickguard
  2. I am 47 and fairly new to the forum. I used to be a tug captain. Too many knee injuries stops me from doing that anymore. So, I do nothing-well almost nothing. I play all the time and build or think of building guitars when I'm not reading the forum. I live in Washington and spend a lot of time indoors cause the rain. LOL. Soon as I get some web space I will post my pics of my last project. It is the Strat copy in the avatar. It is mahogany with marbled cloth and polyurethane finish. The neck is an old Bogie Bodies neck that I built while spending time at their shop building my first guitar. :D

  3. :D Has anyone had any luck painting a fretboard? I have a maple on maple neck. The board has cracks and broken pieces that have been repaired, although unsightly, it is structually sound. It is still raw (no radius). I was thinking of an epoxy paint, but I was unsure if I do this, do I set the frets on top of the epoxy? Do I need to use epoxy? I think it might be too thick! But, I need the strength to hold the small broken pieces on that will probably not hold when I fret the neck. It is a 27 fret neck and replacing the fingerboard is not an option financially.
