  1. Sorry, but a couple of sites have them listed as the same genus. Therefore the same wood!

Look at page 7. Sorry, it's Adobe!

It is called (in several site sites) Brosimum Guianensis- Leopardwood/Snakewood common name Letterwood. Although Gilmer Wood calls Snakewood Piratinera Guianensis.

Look on my first post where I posted "edit". At the top of that site it spells it out.

I didn't make this stuff up, so don't take it out on me. I'm just telling it as I see it. :D

  2. I doubt if they use walnut, probably alder. They might just stain whatever wood they're using a walnut stain, but I don't know for sure. Why not email them and ask there?

(jay_turser@jayturser.com) Email taken from the web page!

  3. Another one of the names put on guitars made by (I believe) Samick. Never liked the fit or finish on the ones I played. I was much happier with the SX basses (Rondo Music) I bought (lower cost, but not much else). Just plan on replacing everything that is not glued on (electronics, hardware, and nut).

  4. I went to see for myself a few years ago and my impression was the same as BigD's'

I played one of Ed's Pearlcaster's with the 2500 grit finish Ed brags about. When I asked why the neck was warped I was told that it was one of Ed's private guitars (good cover B)) and it was not for sale anyway (even though it was hanging out on a rack). Then I was told that the guitars are not setup on the showroom floors because they setup the guitars before shipping. The salesman also said that the store is not there for walk in cutomers due to they sell mostly online.

I left quite PO'd. I was a potential buyer. I was all ready to purchase a guitar and they blew me off. Too bad for them I bought a Gibson Tennessean later when I got home. Their loss.

    :D

  5. you can just pop out the 1 11/16 and pop in a 1 5/8, the only thing that changes is a more narrow string spacing, no modification to the neck is needed, you'll just have a wider neck, but tighter string spacing at the nut.

That really doesn't make the guitar any easier to play for smaller hands and that was what I assumed he was wanting to do the change for. What other reason would there be to just change the nut?

I would think any guitar would be uncomfortable to play with too much fretboard overhang. :D

  6. Ahh!!! No politics here!  I've been trying to escape disease of the political cynisist for a long time now.  First it killed my sister, then my friends became all-knowing.  Now Project Guitar?

I agree! Go build a guitar and stop the politics. B)

    BTW I already voted. :D

  7. Mid 70's Ibanez lawsuit Les Paul copy. Didn't know there was a lawsuit until later, or I would have held on to it. It played better than any LP i've ever played, but i've only played a few standards and studios. So maybe not the better than all LP's, but a damn good copy.
