  1. Thats great Robert!!!! Thanks!
  2. the two little red/brown switches are on/off, and the bigger black on is a splitter/off.
  3. Ok, i have three switches and three humbuckers. The plan is for each switch to control a pickup of its own (simple enough). I have no idea how to wire this up... Its one volume, one tone three switches (one of which is a coil splitter). The coil splitter will be wired to the bridge bucker. The pickups have five wires on them, green, white, red, and a black and braded wire which are soldered together. Any help would be appreciated. closer view of pickup wires http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h185/pra...ll/Picture5.jpg
  4. That looks great dude. Im waiting for those sound clips though!!
  5. Its my thread, and i'll cry if i want to, cry if i want to, CRY if i want to.... And you'd cry to, if it happened to you.
  6. Cheers ryanb, i was directing my frustration at drak really. He assumed that i know nothing. If I had actually said i know nothing then i would have understood, but i didnt. I asked if people thought i should refinish the guitar of not. And i in no uncertain terms said that the guitar is not made of ply. Which he chose to turn a blind eye to, and make me look stupid for buying a plywood guitar. Im not stupid, and i know to avoid guitars made of ply. Anyway........... (breath......... ) Thankyou for your input dude, Its appreciated. Oh, and by the way. I will be just filling in the chip now. I was always under the misconception that a chip in a poly finish could not be repaired with a spot fill like you can do on lacquer. Its made my day to find out i can fill it. Im making a les paul as we speak anyway, so i'll be doing a natural finish on that when its ready. It will be mine.... OH YES!, it WILL be mine...
  7. And heres a link to the makers website. Thats my guitar they are describing by the way. http://www.westfieldguitar.co.uk/pandrhowa...ucts.asp?ID=137
  8. ok, im doing a strat right now (one im making from scratch). I'll post it in here when its done to show you im not a complete retard who knows not how to finish a guitar. and heres one i finished earlier... http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h185/pra...ll/DCFC0024.jpg
  9. ok, its not ply, i can see real wood in all the cavities. Also, how do you know how much finishing experience ive had? Your coming across a bit condisending dude. I know how to refinish a guitar, all i wanted was some reason why i should and should'nt do it. And i didnt buy it with the intent of refinishing it, i bought it and then started to wonder if i should. And once again, its not ply. im not sure i made myself clear there before. Just to clear things up, its NOT ply. Damn, i came on here for a bit of friendly chat and i get treated like a kid who knows nothing and has no experience. Whats up with that!?
  10. Really? Its that simple? Its a thick poly finish (im assuming) i thought that only worked on nitro finishes. Will it be invisible?
  11. Theres no shutting you lot up tonight is there...
  12. The other reason i want to refinish it, is because i bought it at a discount due to a small chip in the finish under the pick guard. It bugs me that i cant take the pick gaurd off without revealing the chip. Any ideas how i can repair the chip?
  13. Im pretty sure that its a hardwood body. The specs on the website say that this ( the custom copy) is made from harder wood than the other (the standard copy). So it'll probably be alder or some other lighter hardwood judging by the wood i can see in the pickup and control routes. Its diffinatly not ply.
  14. Oh come on, five viewers and not one reply!
  15. Ok, i wanted a natural finish, or at least a transparent coloured finish when i went to the shop. But all they had was solid colours. OK, i thought. I'll just look for a colour i like and go for that. Then i fell in love with this... http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h185/praunball/lpc3.jpg http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h185/praunball/lpc1.jpg So i thought, somebody who only has a very small budget cant really afford to be fussy. So i bought it. And im glad i did, as its a great guitar. Then the niggling started..... i still wanted the natural finish.... shall i refinish the top on it?.... NO!!! THAT WOULD BE SILLY!!! But why not? Try and give me some pro's and cons to me repraying the top on it...
  16. If it is, then im happy. One less job to do.
  17. Can i use this without using a grain filler? Ive looked around on the net for info on what im using (Briwax cellulose sanding sealer) and theres not alot about it really.
  18. Dr. Jabsco has a post pinned above with links to what you want.
  19. Sweet!!! Could you do a sound clip when its finished?
  20. I have on e more question.... did you do a dry fit before you went to work on it? I ask this because ive heard tails of bridge hole in the wrong place and so forth. What say thee? Ive also heard of them being great, with no problems at all.
  21. Brian has inspected these kits, and he seems to think that under the maple veneer, its not solid wood. He thinks its particle board. Can you see real wood in the neck pocket and pickup routes?
  22. I tried it on an old fretboard that was broken. I did block inlays with it. I had to build up the solder slowly into the hole and make sure it flows freely everytime you add a bit more. The result was not to bad, but not really what i wanted. The heat did make some oils come out of the wood though, which i dont think is good. As for them falling out, why not glue them?
  23. I was thinking something similer mate. I will try mixing food colouring with the soda, and with the glue and see which turns out the best. I suspect mixing it with the glue may not work though.
