  3. i bought a squier strat for 50$ and its going thru some major modding at the moment(a bit of a suprise) and also on musicyo.com they sell kramer strat ripp offs for like 70 i think("modded" one of those too! haha)
  4. wow i never knew about this...im might buy an acoustic soon and now i can search more broadly if this works well....because now im looking for only acoustic-electric..but its pricyer...does this way really work?
  5. i want to put an ESP logo on my headstock...but i was thinking about maybe trying to inlay it...like the gibson on some gibson guitars...how difficult would this be? do i need alot of tools to do so? and if i do do this...how can i paint the rest of the headstock black? because i want an inlay and the headstock black. thanks
  6. well we have flux on the side...we might not have used it right but we tried it...we have rosin core solder...how do you use the flux?
  7. were trying to solder the wire to the back of the pot as the directions say and everytime we solder it the solder wont stick to the back of the pot...what are we doing wrong? what can help this? thanks
  8. i might be modding a strat and i would want to shape the heel way more because i hate those heels also...and its just nicer...so just glue it up...i thought of that but i thought that was too simple...thanks guys
  9. is it possible to change a bolt on to a set neck? if so what needs to take place? thanks (ps hope this doesnt sound stupid or anything!)
  10. its not glueing it on thats the problem..its how do i make it the right width and how do i file down the where the string sits? and how far down? i think im just gonna take it to a place to get it done...do they need the whole guitar for this or can i just give them the neck?
  11. i am using ferrules and the strings are only off in the upper frets...i think i just have to adjust the back two screws...hopefully this wont set me back too far as i almost to finishing
  12. i want to take a squier strat neck...and cut off the headstock and make it a reverse headstock...and also make it a 13 degree angled headstock...like gibsons...cant i just cut it at an angle...flip it over...and glue it back on? reverse right? this should work right? or any ideas? thanks... my mind is brewing up something crazy here....
  13. its confusing because you use some terminoligy which is confusing...and some pics would help too...thanks!
  14. yes i made the body and attached a squier strat neck...its probably about a 16th off..im thinking i might have drilled the neck attachment screws wrong...any ideas?
  15. Thanks...i read the tutorial but its a bit confusing...any other tips? thanks
  16. when i bought my neck from warmoth they said they couldnt attach the nut(even tho they installed my friends which makes me mad!!) but anyways..they sent me the nut along with it...its graphite and i was going to take it in to get it done somewhere but what are the odds of me doing this? ive never done it before but ive made the guitar so i figure i might be able to do it...can someone describe how to do this? or should i just leave it to the pros? thanks
  17. well out of curiosity i took the neck off my strat and put it on my explorer...since my explorer neck has no nut...and i strung up the guitar..it plays fine just one little thing bothers me...the low E is kinda close to the edge of the fretboard in the higher frets...and likewise the high E is a little far from the edge...and you can totally see it because the G string goes over the dot inlay...any suggestions? of course it could just be this neck because my other neck looks straight...but who knows....please help...thanks
  18. did you just oil it and buff it? or is there some other type of finish on there?
  19. Thanks alot...im pretty satisfied with the new screw locations myself...and i cant wait to get the ferrules in there...and now that i have more room i am going to contour the heel a bit more for a more "sexy" feel as we call it haha...i dont like when i go to hit the high notes and i feel like im holding a ham sandwhich in my hand because the heel is so thick...and an explorer isnt going to get too too much soloing anyways...thanks
  20. im the man with the bandsaw..if i only had to pick one tool to use i could probably get by with just using a bandsaw...routers are my second choice
  21. alright maybe my explanation wasnt clear..sorry...now this isnt the only way im sure but this is the way i do it and it works fine...u find a bolt that has the same thread size as the post and screw it in the bushing....as far as possible...then put the bolt in a vice clamp and pull it away..(be sure to pull straight away) or take pliers and pull it out that way....any other advise on how to do this?
  22. were talking about the ferrules that the neck attachment screws go in...not the string thru kind..
  23. i use a piece of scrap wood and hammer them in lightly...then to get them out if you ever need to...take a bolt that fits inside and put the bolt in a clamp...then pull the guitar out straight and u got it...use a bolt and not the post because u wouldnt wanna mess up that pretty finish right?
