  1. ^

or you can make it outta whatever wood

and use a nice veneer to get some awesome grain/flame/etc color on it. w/o affecting the tone.

I'm getting some veneer, gonna have extra.

Its too small to use on a guitar.

but i can maybe send you some so u can practice finishing techinques and colors.

  2. here we go:

    Jackson PS-4 w/ EMG81-S-81.

Alder w/ maple neck and rosewood fretboard

Recently ripped for parts for my guitar I *was* gonna build.

Gonna refinish it, as you can see ALL the dings and paint chips.

  3. Well.

    I won the auction.

    But stupid me

I forgot to measure my Jackson.

And 12x13 isn't gonna be enough.

    Oh well :D.

I'll figure something out. If nothing more than just practicing finishing for when I can get a piece of right sized veneer. Any other suggestions?

  4. site says 3000 hours each..... that's 125 days if you leave the guitar plugged in all the time, but realistically you'll want to change the batterie if every 2-3 months... cause the signal dies and the tone changes as the batterie dies, wes might know a trick or 2 about prolonging the life or something..

also you can buy batter boxes for the back of the guitar that make swapping batteries a breeze....

    yup

the less voltage supplied, the more it clips the signal.

  5. you can prolly make ur own single/hum templates.

If you have autocad? and a printer?

Or go to your library and see if they have Make Your Own Guitar by Melvyn Hiscock...in the back are some templates...make a photocopy ..and then ...make ur own.

  6. i have one

    love it.

however if you buy one....you should know its discontinued.

No more updates, maybe no more support at all (like tech support).

    so...buyer beware.

I suggest trying a behringer Vamp (pro), Jstation, PoD (Pro/XT), before committing.

Theres a lot of people that swear by the POD, a lot that swear by the Jstation and a lot that swear by the Vamp....even after owning or trying all of them.

Some say the Vamp is more accurate than the POD.

Some say the VAMP sounds "toyish"

Some say the cleans on the jstation are awesome.

Some say the jstation is overly "dark" (which it is to me :D)

Some say the POD is the perfect moddeller. Closely getting the point of tube breakup.

Some say the POD is just too damn expensive. (oh so true)

So. If I were you, I would try a VAMP and Jstation.

  7. if you want to see how maple top and clear mahogony back look.

look for pictures of Jacksons USA Phil Collins signature guitar.

it has a quilted maple top in varyous colors w/ a clear mahogony back.

If you wanna see how mahogony looks dyed/painted transparent.

You can find some pictures of the Jackson USA Mustaine Y2KV. Its mahogony ...i know theres a red one on ebay right now.

  8. the Slammer by Hamer are the low end import stuff.

They're like "LTD by ESP (although the LTDs have gotten much better from when they were first released)" or "Epiphone by Gibson"

I'd take a Hamer over a Slammer (much like i'd take a Gibson over Epi or ESP over LTD).

My Hamer Standard (explorer) = awesome.

But I wouldn't have bought the Slammer (if it was out when I got my Hamer).
