can you post a link to them? what color are they?
Maybe someone might wanna buy them off of you, and you can order the right ones?
In short, i'm looking for 3+3 locking tuners for my next project .
-
well we'll see how the auction for a set of EMGs goes in 2days.
If I can get those ~$50, i'ma get those.
If I can't..i'll prolly take ur auction there...or one like it.

as far as i know
There's only limited strings, made by floyd. and only 25.5" scale.
So if u use a non standard string guage (ie 10-52 like me) ur SOL.
at least that was a couple of years ago when they came out.

search on google for GuitarNuts. It discusses shielding very well.

Anyone have a set of 3 cheap single coils?
Gonna make my Strat playable...but don't wanna spend a lot of money.
preferabbly w/ the controls too...but if not..thats aight.
Anyone?

Well. 1) He admitted to saying he doesn't know much about how to do the neck stuff 2) Assuming he DOESN'T know, when he finds out about all the radiusing, fret leveling, planing, routing for inlays, etc etc...he'll probably think twice about making a neck for the 1st time out. I know I did.
But whatever. His money and time. Good luck.

if its gonna be neck through. Might I suggest just buying a premade neckthru neck like the one at Carvin?
http://carvinguitars.com/products/part.php...?ItemNumber=NT6
Unless you want some custom stuff like inlays/woods.
Otherwise, you'll have to make it.

can you post a pic of the guitar you wanna make?
-
Yeh, somehow Agile is getting away with this (notcie the rounded horn, some think its because they where afraid of gibson suing them, it used to be normal) Whos next ESP?
sorry for all the pics
actually ESP was already taken care of.
Ever wonder why they don't offer the Hetfield signature explorer anymore? And for a while it was the gay new one or whatevr it was called.

Well, that's another example of why to vote "Guitar" in the Guitar/Girlfriend poll.
That's too bad that you haven't been able to document it. If you have even a wee bit of extra cash lying around, get yourself a disposable camera and then scan the pictures in after developing. Hell, if you want to send them all the way here, I'LL scan them for you.
As I'm still in the learning and gathering phase, I'm pretty much devouring any sort of information I can get, so I've quickly added "bloodwood" to my list of possible woods to consider, though the toxicity DOES scare me off a bit.
In any case, I'm sure all of us would love to see photos of the build, so see what you can do!
Cheers,
Greg
you can usually get a "Pictures on Disk" at most places for a couple of extra bucks.
They give you either a floppy(same day/nextday) or a CDR (3+ days).

or you can prevent ground loops and use a star point grounding.
search for GuitarNuts. It talks about wiring a Strat for least hum possible.
It talks about star grouding. Basically, all grounds go to one point, then to shield.

but the PRS SingleCut seems smaller and lighter.
And I was recently told that it was indeed smaller and lighter.

Did it last nite:
recessed Wilkinson trem
22fret
25.5" scale
whenever I get around to building it:
Mahogony body
Maple neck, ebony fretboard
graphite nut
locking tuners
preferablly that satin chrome hardware.i dont really like all chrome.
I just don't know where to put the bridge hum really.
The controls are there...don't know if I like 'em though.
Can someone check it and make sure I did it right?
-
angling neck back from body. but this idea of recessing the TOM sounds good can someone explain this to me?
its just like recessing a floyd etc.
Just route out a section around the bridge by a few mms.
This lets gives you a bit more room to go up and down, and keeps you from having to use an angled neck pocket.
I know someone here made a V w/ a recessed TOM. may have to search for it though. i'll see if i can find it.

Curtis, Yeah. I actually just designed the template with them in place. Here's a pic. As you can see, I wasn't going to mess with a 1/8" lip.
Good luck. Also - check your depth VERY carefully as you rout the main cavity. I reouted through a rather nice piece of Zebrawood. Not a good thing.
Marty
I'd like to reiterate the route depth thingy...
I routed for a flattop section..then decided i wanted carved top......well...as i was carving.....well...it wasn't pretty...so..not pretty that i ruined that body (thankfully it was free).
SO if ur gonna carve top/archtop....make sure u calculate properly ...
-
or you could just recess the bridge..
thats what I'd do....
-
i'd think make a template of ur neck pocket w/ one side flat to lay on the guitar...and the other side have the 1 degree angle on it....
so as you route...the router goes down w/ the angle of the template
?
how to do that..is good question
-
nice.
i love the look of wilkinsons can't wait to make a guitar with them.
I love that carving.
What kinda wood? Alder?
Old Jackson neck?
-
Ok, i think i'l go for professionally made, it will cost around $1333, i'l make my own at a later point when i feel more confident, or I might find someone round my local area to learn with, there must be luthiers round here somewhere lol.
why not ask people around here?
I know some people here make fine instruments and what not.
Maybe you can commission them?
What kidna guitar did you want?
www.rampartguitars.com is relatively cheap.

what ebay guy?
I have a set...but from an ebay guy.
Show me the link to this 'ebay guy' and i'll tell you if mine are probably better, the same, or worse. :-D
-
i just use that sanding disc drill attatchment...
but i'm using alder....not maple
-
Do you know if EMGs have some sort of lifetime warranty?
The prongs on the back of one of my81s broke ...i had to resolder them back on :-D and...the solder doesn't hold very well there.
Are tuners reversible
