  1. That dremel base works fine, and yes freehand with the base. No cleanup afterwards, those downcut bits from stew mac work great. The smallest one is so small that it gets in the corners pretty good. I was pretty exited after doing the first star because it was my first attempt at inlay. So i look forward to doing more inlay in the future but next time I will cut my own inlays.

  2. I was going to say that, I was at one today having a new end put on my hoses for my cutting torch and noticed some brass welding wire in a plastic tube( like the tubes for fret wire from stew mac) and it was the perfect size for side dots. I thought about this thread when I saw it.

  3. I would like to official decline that nomination. Its too bad, because i was really looking forward to voting, and giving some thorough critiscm and praise to assist people in their craft.

I can see where Perry is coming from, because if you let one new guy then any new guy that wants to join in has to be let in then the judges will have to sift thru all the learning experiences. NIGHTMARE!!!!! Not that I would want to enter but maybe there could be some sort of Newbie competition that someone else could set up completly seperate from this one, with a longer deadline. But I still say learning takes time and patience.

  4. Yep I am a newb also so its not time for this yet. I am doing a restore job and am picking up the tools as I go a leaning as I go. Stew Mac is making a killing off of me and everytime I order something I always forget something and then have to make another order, I dont want to make small orders so I end up adding a few more things to it. But all the tools will get used again so its just the initial investment that seems outrageous, but by the time I start the next build I will have everything I need.
