A friend of mine recently bought an active EMG 81 and installed it into his guitar without much trouble. Until he plugged his guitar into his amp. He gets a very low, clean signal when he sets his amp to clean, and when he turns on gain, he only receives a louder, clean signal. He's tried 3 different amps, but to no avail. I was told he completely removed his passive pickups, installed 25K pots, stereo jack, the whole bit, anyone have suggestions why he may be having this trouble?
