  1. Thanks for the info. Do hvlp(high velocity LOW PREASURE) guns have to have less preasure? Most air compressors I've looked at say 90lbs or more.
  2. I've been thinking about getting a spray gun & air compressor. I would like to get a gravity feed HVLP gun. I was looking at air compressors & came accross this one at Harbor Freight that says its an air brush air compressor. You can go here & see for yourself if you want. http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/disp...temnumber=93657 Basically is says it delivers 0 - 40psi of constant pressure. Will this work w/ an HVLP GUN. I was talking to a friend of mine who used to work at an autobody repair shop & he said to make sure I got an air compressor with a big tank. I don't think this one even really has a tank. Any info you guys can give me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
  3. I had another thought. Since the blonde offered by Guitar ReRanch is pretty yellow (I think I've figured out the color I want is WHITE Blonde), & since I want a lot of the wood grain to show, can I just go buy white stain at home depot or somewhere, & the clear coat over the stain?
  4. I've been looking at the pictures on the reranch website & all the pics of blonde guitars look really yellow. The blonde I want is like on the new Fender guitars, which is pretty white. Can anybody tell me where to get blonde paint that is white but opaque like on blonde modern fender? Especially in a spray can since I don't have spray guns. If it is not available in aerosol, any other info you can give me will still be helpful since I have a friend who has an auto body repair shop who could probably help me out. Thanks.
  5. I'm refinishing a Japanese strat. I have it sanded to bare wood(w/150 grit sp so far). I'm not sure what kind of wood it is but it feels pretty heavy. I was planning on painting it white blonde & clear coating it w/ aerosol spray cans from guitar re-ranch. I wouldn't mind if it had a vintage look to it. But after reading some of the info on this page I'm a little unsure. I don't have spray guns or a better spray area than my garage & it's about 40 - 65 degrees outside lately. Can I get a good result this way? Or should I just pay someone to do it & what do people who refinish guitars charge.
  6. I am re-finishing a japanese strat. I'm not sure what kind of wood it is, but it feels pretty heavy. I've sanded it down completely(w/sp as fine as 150 so far). I was planning on painting it white blonde & clear coating it w/the aerasol cans from guitar re-ranch(paint & clear coat). I don't have spray guns & I would be doing it in my garage. It's currently about 40 - 50 degrees outside. Can I get a good result w/these aerosol cans or would I be better off just taking it to somebody & paying them to do it. & does anybody know what guys who refinish guitars charge to do this.
