  1. So, I've finally gotten back at the guitar, and this is a quick mock up. I've only cut the pickguard; I still need to route out the spot for the neck pickup. The fret dot markers are only placed on the neck, I'm hoping to install them today. Things are coming together.

  2. so it's been too long, but i've gotten back to the ol' guitar and i have a question. I bought a pre slotted fingerboard from stew mac and was wondering, do you have to sand the fingerboard down to to a certain thickness or is it dependent upon the guitar that the neck is going on to?

  3. Over the past two days I've routed the control cavity, the pickup cavities and the neck pocket. Unfortunately, i routed the neck pocket a little big. there's about a millimeter on the left and right side of the neck. Is this gonna be a problem? and if so, would i just put in two little shims to fix it?

  4. I have a Jackson simulvalve 400 power amp that was given to me by rene benton of Junk Yard Prophet. He gave it to me in what he said was full working order, despite a broken jack on the back of the unit. i brought it to our local music shop where i had them repair the jack and take a look at the power amp as a whole for any mechanical flaws. After inspection, they deemed it in complete working order.

    specs

200 WATTS PER CHANNEL @ 4 OHMS OR 150 WATTS PER CHANNEL @ 8 OHMS. IT IS BRIDGEABLE. IT IS EQUIPPED WITH AN XLR JACK, BINDING POST CONNECTORS, AND PROTECTION CIRCUIT.

it is cosmetically flawed so i will post some pics up soon.

I guess the question would be, would anyone be interested in purchasing such an item? If so, PM me.

  5. Also, sand down that "burst dye" and dye it with the green/black combo you've been working on. The burst just looks really cheap for a custom guitar. Maybe you could go for a green burst with the green in the middle and black on the outer edges. I'd keep the lams natural and dye the wings.

Might want to come up with a nice ebony mounting ring for that pickup, too, or paint the cavity matte black.

    +1 that would be sweet.

  6. If it was my goal to have a fighting chance in the GOTM, what would you expect to see in the guitar. I believe meticulous craftsmanship is a must, but provided you are a good builder, would exotic woods or intricate inlays aid in attaining this goal, or is it just making something that takes everyone by surprise?

  7. I'm just starting out building, but I'm sure as hell not going to post anything on here, even if it was

four star work; because if I say something wrong I may be flamed to no end, and that's just not helpful

    to anybody

    this has already been addressed

If this guy was a newb, building his first guitar, then thats one thing. I doubt you'll EVER see this level of critiscm if that was the case.
