Hey all, I found that my wood suplier has some Santos Rosewood and I was thinking of using it as neck wood. What do you think?
I believe it is also called Pau Ferro and that is used for fingerboards.
Correct me if I´m wrong.
Thanks

I hate people who could carve their top beautifully
Have you tried it yet? Those two PRS are my first carve tops
-
Well, now that is one gorgeous paint job! I like it a LOT!
-
What do you guys think? Should I make on that singlecut an ebony tailpiece like I wanted,
or should I invest more money on it and buy a wrap around bridge?
I really don´t know now
-
Again I needed some time to gather inspiration...
Then I did some progress on this one.
Rough cut mahogany core with maple back
And this is how the back looks now. I think that figure is fine
And a quick mockup with neck layed on
-
Man, I love your builds... you surprise me all the time with all that great pictures
-
Wow! Very nice build thread. I might use some of your building techniques
Great news on that nice flame maple...
-
How deep is that neck joint route? I love you builds by the way
-
looking great. Are you gonna chamber the top too? I am building something similar to yours, and I will carve the top also from the inside.
-
Makes me want to build a thin superstrat with carved top Awesome build as always!
-
Beautiful instrument, as always little OT question. Are those black strings good? Friend of mine wants some purple on his guitar.
-
Very, very nice guitar! How long does it take you to build one of those?
-
that white back made it absolutely different.. and I like it this way
-
And after some time there is an update. Finished carving:
Neck glued in and testfit:
Back stained:
And finally color coat on
Enjoy

It could resist bending, but the question is what will happen when it is under the string tension for some time. I would take the risk and leave it trussless and unrouted. Don´t forget to post some photo

That mahogany is just awesome! Wish I had some like yours Keep up great work, it´s inspiring for me ;-)

Nice cheat Drak!

I started a newer guitar...
body: black walnut
neck: maple and ebony
pick-up: KentArsmtrong custom 7
Where did you get your pickup? I did order my KA´s directly from M. Turza

But I'm almost sure that the old town of Prague was labeled "Staropramen" on the map last time I was a tourist in Prague... Anyway I surely trust your czech to be much better than mine
Oh, back to guitars...or beer...or both
Well I must say that I´m not familiar with history of Prague, but czech and slovak language are almost the same. Anyway Staropramen means also what I wrote Let´s have some
-
StaroBrno! Great beer, had a few last night.
Beer trivia: Staropramen = "Old Prague" so Starobrno = "Old Brno" and Zlatopramen (if I’m not mistaken) = "Hi there Prague" (or something similar)
You´re almost all.. wrong
Staropramen means something like old strand, Starobrno is really Old Brno (Brno - city) and Zlatopramen is something like Golden strand
Anyway, all of them are great, but my no1 is Branik. Buy some if you can
-
Thank God for spokeshaves and Czech beer:
+1 for that. Do you know Staropramen or Budejovicky Budvar? They´re my favourite
-
Congrats on your first guitar. It looks fantastic, I can´t believe it´s your first build Really nice one ;-)
Wish my third build turned out that good
-
I'm working on the purple Rhoads at the same time.
You ment Firebird right?
-
I did not finish the carving at all I just tried to do something with it

Thanks I might use it for some project, but not now. We´ll see what is going to come home with me after visiting my supplier.
Certainly some nice Sapele and hopefully zebrawood
