ooh, i see - a definite misunderstanding
well done, great guitars!

i havent played many:
emg's, mighty mite, di marzios, seymores - i reckon the di marzios are the best for me: probably the jazzier ones in the neck (forgotten the name - PAF?) and something rawker in the bridge.
i do really wanna play the lace sensor pickups and the sc EMG's - heard good things about em!

just to add:
the shop i go to most is split into 2 premises: the classical shop and the rock shop.
i must say that everyone in the classical shop knows what they profess. they are all the best guys around, the most helpful - and not full of marketing rubbish - they would talk you out of spending more money if you were making the wrong choice. fantastic blokes, thats the sort of shop i wished the rock shop was.
the rock shop is full of asses, and if just generally the opposite of the classical shop.
also i must add that having a well light shop is very good, i prefer shops with a good well lit up room, the rock shop is kinda dark (by comparison)

1. Which of the following is more important to you when buying from a guitar shop.
c. Competitive pricing
2. How important is it for you to keep your guitar (on a scale of 1 to 5)
*Tuned - 15
*Supplied with new strings - 8
*Properly humidified - 4
*Polished - 1
b. Fewer models of more brands
4. How much attention do you pay to guitar shop advertising: ZIP
5. How important is it to you for your local/favourite guitar shop to offer other musical instruments
c. Vital
6. With regard to your current local/favourite guitar shop, what aspects of it do you like and dislike
Like… prices, good range, some decent guys
Dislike… too small, too many idiots in it, not enough odd bits at hand, takes ages to get an order in.
7. What things annoy you about guitar shops?
the feeling that you are being rushed to buy something or get out. morons who think they can play solos by tapping an arp on the E 'quickly' and loudly. skaters, punks - far too arrogant for a shop, service speed being slow because of volume of customers, the crap music always on.
8. Would you prefer to buy a guitar from a shop or online?
online if i knew what i was getting, no idiots trying to get more money off me, but i wouldnt really guy a guitar without playing it - unless i had a really good recomendation from someone i trusted who knew their stuff about guitars.
Please state reason for choice…
in shops there is the usual, you will need a gig bag and strap and amp etc... also they treat you as if you cant play and know nothing about guitars, for example some moron tried to talk wood with me about some substandard quilt top, and he said it was like an AAAAAA flame top, when it was clearly a quilt. he also claimed it was birch or something stupid - i just grinned and left the shop. so if people trying to sell me stuff are bluffing they dont get my money.

the 120 would be fine. the volume would be the same if the speaker sensitivity is the same, and for your average guitar speaker thats 97dB - the famous celestion Gt75 is 97dB spl (at 1 metre i think) so i wouldnt lose sleep over it!

curtis, that was out of line man. randy wouldnt have given a good god damn if someone decided to play 'his' guitar like that.
-
if you took 2 power amps, and wired them in a bridge you could be capable of x4 the output.
in this mode one signal is inverted, and a plus goes to each side of the speaker and the earths are connected. you need a bridging adaptor on one amp. what this does is to invert the signal of the amp putput, which means it helps the other amp, and doesnt work against it. it pushes and pulls the speaker 2 times further in each direction.
both amps must be capable of driving loads 1/2 the impedance, ie a 8 ohm amp should be able to drive a 4 ohm.
DISCLAIMER:
Read up on this lots before attempting it, if you wire it incorrectly your amps will explode!! There is plenty of documentation on the web about this if interested i may be able to find you some old info i have somewhere.

marshall, mesa or randall. it would have to have enormous wattage though. LOL
-
yep, same problemo!
-
im torn, depends on what guitar, eg RRV has to be HH, ibanez can be HSH, HH. strat is SSS or HSS - but i like hum cancelling neck pups, so HSC, lol!
this hasnt helped
i suppose HSH.

^^ well said
nirvana arent old!! nor were they good, imo!

as of this week i havent been playing much - i havebeen building instead, picked the guitar up and i sucked bad! practised for 3 hours and i was back on form. interesting.
i think with will power you can do alot, but with physical limitations it simply wont be possible, eg i can play 12th to 24th without moving my hand, i dont think this would be possible without big hands.
technique wise i reckon determination can help soo much! i have been trying for about 2 years to play like yngiwe, learn his style, and i think im well on my way to being happy with it. i wont say i am anywhere as good! but i now at least can play some of his stuff reasonably like him - i have trilogy suite quite well learnt. i am learning my way into how he improvises atm.

perhaps they had a meeting and that was a clause - mention boss. far fetched!
-
i like this one, used it with other odd chords in one of my songs:
E|-2 B|-2 G|-4 D|-5 A|-2 E|-3
-
damn right! then i will have a pedal selection!!!
hahaha, *thinks of A-B-C amp/pedal setup*

kickass! im having me some of these! A/B switch def!

nothing short of fantastic!! VERY well done!
-
existing pots wouldnt work - they are 500K, the EMG's are 25K IIRC. This would fDisk the gain of the pre-amp stage! if they are used in a feedback loop, i cant remember if they are or not. if they are not, the impedance would be boosted real high with normal pots, and therefore wouldnt work at line levels
-
thanks for the info!
i may be using grovers drilled for the 70's

well, i have been getting into meshuggah for quite a while now. they are a fantastic band. everything is very interesting in their compositions, gotta love the odd times! really cant get enough - thats why i may make an 8 string guitar, just to see what it sounds and plays like! i think it would be a worthy project! but where do you get 8 string bridges!
anyone else like meshuggah? im into extreme music atm, dont know why - perhaps im cross, depressed or something, fetch the psychologist! but i cant get enough of em! listened to I twice through - its 21 mins long!
well, thats me done!
