Very nice! From what I can see, looks like good clean work.
Since you're soliciting opinions...I think the headstock's a little large for the guitar, but like I said, overall, very nice.
-
Got it today--looks and works great! Thanks.

I'm sure there are several products that will work just fine, but Titebond has never failed me, and it's inexpensive, so I've had no reason to venture away from it.
I do use epoxy and CA at times, but only Titebond to glue up body blanks, etc.
-
I think this one of mine is kind of cool (eh, or else I wouldn't have built it I suppose).
-
Titebond Original (not II or III).
And Melvyn Hiscock's Make Your Own Electric Guitar is a must-read.
Have fun!

Welcome!
Keep reading, learning, and practicing.

ah, i must have missed it rick
Oh, no worries, just commenting that I'd heard of them before. I forgot what we said about them though, and I can't find the post...

We discussed this a bit, a few months ago... I can't find the thread though.

Just a quick comment on the "fix-the-pocket-width vs. fix-the-neck-width" question: You mentioned another neck fit perfectly. As such, I'd take a little width off the neck, not the pocket. Just my opinion.

Nice pieces, all. I like the happy face!
Here's some more black limba for you, j.pierce:

Welcome back!
I was just reading a post (from 2004) from you after I did a search on something yesterday, and wondered where you'd been.
-
Yeah, I've really come to love the stuff myself. I've kinda been hoarding it the past few months. Whenever I see a nice piece, I buy it if it's reasonably-priced.
-
That's exactly what I do: Use someone else's garage.
-
Nice pieces, guys!
Here's another one... ziricote:

Post up your cool billets, blanks, and raw wood! Only rule is it has to be (or have been) yours.
I'll start! Here's a black limba body blank I recently glued up:
-
Beautiful work as always. The walnut/limba combination is really nice.
Isn't limba the coolest?
[Edit: I stuck a pic of a black limba body blank I glued up in here, but then realized it was kind of thread hijacking... I'll start another one.]

Tru-oil, almost none.

I have the Bosch 1617. It's a great router.
-
Not familiar with their stain, but lots of us here have used Tru-oil. I'm finishing my current build with it. I like it a lot.
-
I know a lot of people don't consider Carvin when they think of pickups, but I really like their TBH60 twinblades. I have them in an alder Strat clone and they sound great. Good value for $43 too.

On the bridge placement: check this page.

Yeah, I understand; I did the same thing, and I wouldn't have had a band saw at all if I hadn't bought the cheaper one. Just wanted to make the suggestion in case you could afford it, or soon could.
-
I looked into it a little. It's apparently made by Rikon for Sears.
I haven't seen it up close, but from what I've read, it's one of the better tools you'll find at Sears.
Having said that, if at all possible, get at least a 14" band saw. I have a Jet 12" band saw, and I love it, but that extra capacity would make it so much more useful. I'm going to eventually have to replace it with a larger one.

3. Either put them in a metal quart paint can (if you want to try to reuse them), or wet them and put them in a sealed container in the trash
4. Absolutely not, no worries at all
5. Don't drink it
