  1. Yea man you can get as fine as a hair line width. Yes you can clear coat it. I use this tool Wood Burning Pens
  2. Thanks guys I hope to get some good feedback here when I complete this thing around 2025.
  3. Stream of conciousness I would guess, off the top of my head.
  4. I have a 2 year old Taylor 314 that has hardly been played with hardshell case. I am a drum person so for me to try and ramble about this guitar to the wise here at the board would be foolish. I figure if your intrested you know what this guitar is about.. Comes with hardshell case and stand if ya want it. I am asking $750 plus shipping.
  5. Hey all been awhile since my last post but I just thought I would update some of the things I been doing. Here is a project I am working on for my boss, right now i am laying out the pencil work before I start to burn it. I also set up a simple forum to track my works in progress , answer questions and completed works. The address www.relicshells.com
  6. Yea if you burn with high heat you can leave no indentions. Also your right about the hardware covering some things up. This is just a start really to feel it out mainly. I am gonna get some parts when I get back from vacation to go ahead and slap on and maybe just trace out there profile to use as markers of what will not be seen.
  7. Thanks guys Ill keep updating here to get your all's feedback, I really appreciate hearing what you guitar guys think.
  8. its going to be like that all the way up the neck as well, the dots and all that will be burned. .
  9. Well a while back I posted some wood burning idea's and thoughts applieing them to guitars, well I finaly started the first one for my boss and thought I would share here.
  10. Designs ???For use or what? Here is a bass drum I am starting on for someone
  11. Ill just give it back just let me show it around and sutff for a bit before I do though and also it wont be for a couple months before I can get to it. I am doing one for my boss and also got to finish up a bass drum I am working on as well this month. .Send me and email on the shipping and what not. . .also you got pics? Also are the body's plain with no finish what so ever??
  12. Right now I havent got a strict pay scale , I more adpt to just work with the person and work something out that is reasonable for me and them. DaveK man that would be awsome if your serious bout that?
  13. Divided By James. ..I just orded a simple basic strat body and neck from Warmoth have you cheked them out?
  14. I know I said this over at the other thread , but just wanted to say awsome site and board. We are in the proccess over at www.ghostnote.net in updating our board and site. We are mainly all about custom drum building but adding this site in our connections seems like the right thing to do since many things between what guitar and drum builders do sometimes cross over. Anyway I am glad to find this place and hope to share many things with you guys as well I hope you chek us out. Awsome!!!
  15. I dont know who the main moderator's are here but I just wanted to say we are putting up a link to this site at www.ghostnote.net. This place I think is similar in what we want to do for the drum world online. Brothers in music Awsome place. .!
  16. Damage can be controled to that of non what so ever. I have a instrument that lets me control the heart be a large range .. So it could be really light burning that doesnt leave any indentation.
  17. I use this tool Wood Burning Pens damn I didnt even notice this place had a front end page of custom work, we should link each other. We have a similar site called Ghost Note that we started for custom drum builders.
  18. That is a really coo guitar but I think what iam trying to do is do more art that deviates from the typical happy tree;s and grandma;s kitty cats that seem to be associated with wood burning. Right now I don't have a real plan in place but I would charge just based on the amount of time but not strictly. I would just try and figure out with the customer how much detail is required and just estimate and work with the person on seomthing reasonable.
  19. Yea I love those exotic wood patterns alot. .I like to see the wood and think about pulling things out of its natural state. . which I can't wait to try on guitar. .As soon as I do ill post some pics to get some more feedback. ..
  20. Good idea once I get a body this month and start work Ill document the process. .Thanks good idea yall
  21. Hey everyone I ve been for the last year investigating wood burning as a alternate finishing for drum kits. The other day someone mentioned doing guitar body's which I have thought about but never have desided on doing it untill today. Anyway I thought I would start here and ask you guys in guitarland about what you think about these techniuqes as applie to guitars. My drum works can be see here at Relic Shells . So if you have time I was wondering if you all think it would be coo to start doing guitar body's in some of these similar ways. Although I could do about any type of imagery this is just some that is recent. Thanks hope to gain some good percpectives here. Peace This image was done on curly maple for a cd cover recenlty
