  1. it comes from a non-tremolo ibanez, so the fretboard ends right before the nut, meaning it could be used for anything.

i'll happily throw in a truss rod from the old neck too (the fretboard IS fretted).

price? PM me with what you consider a fair price, and we'll most likely settle on something. just so you know, i live in UK, so you'd have to pay for shipping etc.

Maiden, let me show you two pictures to show what i mean.

    this non-AANJ neck.

    this is an AANJ neck

    so....?

  2. hey guys, i'd like some advice on a project i'm considering undertaking.

to cut a long story short, i have a 7 string ibanez RG with an AANJ neck, but the neck is byond repair as its last owner broke the neck clean into at the headstock and the crack went a further 15 or so centimetres down the neck.

i have the old neck, all of the pieces - the actual neck joint area, and the fingerboard are intact (anyone want a 7 string rosewood fingerboard, off an MIJ axe? - it is totally undamaged due to the nature of the impact).

anyway, finding an AANJ 7 string ibanez neck is impossible, so i'm thinking of buying a pre-AANJ UV neck (i have one eyed up currently on ebay). i would then convert it by cutting out some of the broken neck's AANJ neck joint area, gluing it onto the UV neck and then probably sinking it two bolts in parallel with the truss rod to strengthen it....

    would that work?

    cheers,

    Roman

  3. I have bought a Behringer V-amp 2 (after being convinced to do so by friends, sound samples, online reviews, and great price)...

the thing came today, i plugged it up, everything lit up, everything was working ( i did not plug it up to amp / pc as yet at that point).

all amp modesl changed, etc etc, all was working fine.

then at one point, the v-amp just stopped responding, and began flashing with buttons from top to bottom, like it does when you turn it on (has no on/off switch, turns on automatically with power cord put it).....

then it just turned off and would not turn back on - no matter if which connections were in, which sockets i used.. etc - nothin would happen, no response what so ever.

now, i noticed the adapter got very hot, and took a while to cool down.

however when i plugged it in aftewards, and left it, the adapter heated up only slightly.

so what could be wrong??? fuse gone in the adaptor? v-amp itself ****ing up?

i read all i could find on it on the web, and nothing mentions this sort of problem...

i DID buy it second hand, from ebay, but since it worked perfectly fine when i plugged it in (well, as far as controls etc go - but didnt test its sounds) i am sure it was not sold in a broken state (or could it have been a persisting problem? - but then why hasnt the v-amp switched back on after i let adapter cool down?)

i have no idea what to do, just gonna email the seller for advice and maybe ask behringer for advice (since this isnt covered by guarantee?)

any ideas guys? what do i do? what can i do?

that coming at a really bad time.... as i had been looking forward to playing wit hmy new toy after a heart break... :D

  4. hi Wes, i'm interested in that ESP body...

if you ship to London UK (i'll pay for shipping obviously)

and if you can hold it for me for a bit.... 6 weeks max i would think.

also, would screws with 18mm (wide) nuts fit? if not, could you supply fitting screws + nuts?

    :D

  5. i have a 6 string bolt on esp m body routed for dual humbuckers and a floyd type trem...it has a translucent wine? colored finish ,basswood body, and some type of veneer under the finish

    $50

are the humbuckers direct mount or with rings? what sort of condition (dent-wise)

    {pics would own}

would you consider shipping to UK + how much?

i will not be able to buy it right NOW, but in a month or so....

EDIT: ignore post, found Wes's thread....

  6. that's very, very beautiful!!!

    how does the pine sound??

very very good job, a GOTM, possibly?

the only things i didnt like that much was the pickguard - i think if you made one out of matching pine, it will look much better, as it would be 'hidden'....

other than that, that beauty deserves something better than an ibanez p-up imo!

    maybe custom bartolini? :D

the neck profile looks to be anything but wizard though! B) i take it you prefer 'beefy' necks? good for you.

but really, an oustanding job.... just for me, that pickguard looks a bit out of place, maybe a bit on the cheapside, if you dont mind me saying - on such an amazing instrument.

    :D

  7. i have a '91 MIJ Ibanez RG, and on the neckjoint (its non-AANJ) there is a crack....

it only appears to be 'finish-deep'..... but, how worried should i be???

is this just a cosmetic issue, or is it actually *gasp* my RG falling apart?

would i also be right in saying many non-RG's / JEM's of that peruid have the same problem??

    thanks,

    Roman

  8. lol, ok i live in London, UK

    SD Duncan Custom?

    *off to duncan website :D*

my PAF Pro is basically known for its clarity at high gain - itself it isnt THAT high out, only about 325mV i think, but this gives it a cool early Vai / Gilbert tone, very harmonically rich, lots of mids. think of it as a DM Evolution, but with power rolled off.

like i say, i DO like it, just the neck humbucker is too powerful.... i'd trade that instead, but because its an old Jackson USA pick-up, i dont have much chance of trading that... though in fairness, its one of my favourite neck humbuckers to date...

EDIT: the SD website is pure ear training! yup, sounds perfect, johnnylane, let's hope you like my offering enough...

but still open to other suggestions, in case this doesnt go through, etc...

though it is just about the pick-up i wanted B)

  9. i'd like to trade a DM PAF Pro, in purple.

one of the older ones (i.e. slightly evident on poles), non-F spaced (works perfectly on my RG though), its a metal back one... basically a cool coloured pick-up that gives a kickass tone!

i really like it, but IMO it doesnt balance wit hmy neck humbucker well enough... i wonna trade it for something a little more high output and ballsy.

    i am open-minded, but:

    1) has to be made by a specialised maker, i.e. Seymour Duncan, Bill Lawrence, Batrolini, etc...

    2) passive (no EMG's IOW)

    3) proper humbucker sized.....

like i said, i'm flexible on bobbin colour / brand or model.... i dont wonna go through the hassle of selling and buying a new one etc... because i DO like this pick-up, so i would only really like to swap it with someone who wants it and has something for me in return :D so trade only.....

preferably European trading, BUT open to US trades too.

tone wise, like i said, i am flexible, but just to give a basic indication, lets say i'd like it to be over 400mV in output, and say similar (or be) a DM Tonezone, Evolution, Super distortion, steve's special, SD screaming demon, custom 5, custom custom,. JB.......

either post here or PM please.

here's a pic of the PAF Pro.

    thanks,

  10. i see what you mean about the rocking action being not deep enough!

well i dropped the idea, but made some mods, so i'm jsut post up here in case thsi helps anyone. two easy mods to totally change the tone of a crybaby B)

now to the changes, i've read up a lot on wah mods and schematics, and armed with several resistors, inductors and capacitors i set out to mod my wah.

what i eventually settled on was a two item mod, in comparison with the 'Original' Crybaby.

i replaced the 33k resistor which is in parallel with the inductor with one that is 100k (the smaller circled component on pic); this was done to give the wah a more vocal quality, which is exactly what it gave me. the wah does not longer sound harsh and agressive as it did before. when used with no overdrive, it gives a lovely, smooth vocal tone, much like the Vox Clyde McCoy which are considered to be one of the best ever wah's by many.....

second mod was replacing0.01µF cap with a 0.068µF cap, which increased the wah range, in making it more trebly and more powerful overall., i tried several higher values, but ended up sticking with the 0.068 - it sounds great IMO.

ok basically, this is a simple mod, costing next to nothing (albeit several burns on fingers, lol); this dramatically changes teh wah's sound like i said before.

so just describe the change, imagine something like a Dimebag sig wah, or Bad Horsie, Vai's sig - it sounds closer to taht now. at the bass end notes have a fair bit of treble too - lots of definition; sounds a lot like the satch 'reverse' wah trick he does. the actual notes just has more power, the old muddiness is totally gone now.

having said that it still maintains 'Crybaby' feel and overall smooth tone; to me, this is the perfect cross between a 'vintage' wah and a modern high gain designed wah pedal, it responds wonderfully to different gain settings - very versatile.

here's the pic of the modded PCB, two changed components are circled. (the large one is the 0.068uF cap, smaller one is the 100k resistor).

  11. well i've opened up my crybaby and i shall be modding it by replacing several caps shortly...

anyhow that's all easy and read up on.... but how about this:

i have several spare 1meg (both audio and log taper) pots lying around..... maybe i could replace the current 100k pot with one?????

i have no idea what it will sound like, but is this 'do-able'??

can i be sure it wont fry my wah circuit?

    :D

    thanks

    Roman

  12. ok well i decided to dig this thread out as i've just applied the first coat of the finishing mixture.

very nervous, as i am fearful of what that veneer might do to me (hence the clamp)...

    http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/forum/attac...&postid=1226900

this is like the final job.... so hopefully will enter this axe into this month's GOTM (again) :D - but last time it was without teh maple top!

i have also kept an online diary at another forum, which i might edit (in order to brief down) and post here to boost my chances of success B)

but so far the maple doesnt look too bad, does it?
