  1. Naw Wes, no shops around here... I spent yesterday driving from place to place.

Derek lives about a Day away from me... (I think)

The folks who live in Toronto are much closer.. like five hours

In all of Montreal, there are no wood working shops? :D No kitchen cabinet makers, furniture makers, etc.?

My friend, I will look through the yellow pages to see what I can find.

  2. Fellas,

I really don't know what to do...

I need to plane my mahogany body to make it perfectly flat on top, so that I can add my maple top, which I can't glue together cause the two pieces need to be planed...

The thing is, is that I don't know anyone with a planer... and there is NOBODY in my area who will rent them out.

Do any of you guys have any ideas of what I can do?

As it stands, my Les Paul has been in a limbo state for about two weeks

  3. Oh Lord!! Are you serious!? I had no idea!! Never mind... I guess all those companies pour liquid graphite into moulds like syxxstring was saying.

I just imagined that you could recreate the tonal structures from different woods, but without cutting trees down... Ah well... TIMBER! heh

  4. Hi folks, I'm just wondering if anyone has ever worked with graphite for bodies and necks? Did you like it? I'm asking because I've heard good things about Rainsong, Emerald and (possibly) Modulus(?)... The tone is supposed to be warm, and ya... I guess they don't have to chop a tree down!

  5. Hi Folks, here's the deal... after I get my mahogany body planed, I will be gluing on the two-piece maple top.

I'm wondering what is the best way to do this. I have checked Brian's veneer tutorial (by the way... great job on everything... I study www.projectguitar.com as if it were finals) but I'm using 1/4" wood... would it be anydifferent? Or should I glue the bookmatched pieces together first?

I ask this only because when I place the two pieces together, you can see the gap quite noticeably. (It looks like it would need binding like some PRS models have, right down the middle)

I hope my questioning makes sense! Thank You kindly,

    Adam

  6. Hey guys... right at this minute, I'm using a $100 (on sale) Mastercraft Router (Canadian tire brand... thought to be among the cheapest in Canada)

And it's Amazing... so simple to use, and it's making really clean cuts

Of course, I'm sure that has a lot to do with the Freud Router bit...

  7. I was in Jack's yesterday... Not really much there. And ya, those guys are the meanest sleaziest buggers around.

They had a cool 2x12 Laney, a marshall JCM 2000, and a Roland Jazz Chorus

    though

The two best places to buy amps in my opinion used to be York music on Ste. Catherine's, and JR Comptant off of Decarie on Sherbrooke... but sadly both are gone now... sorry

  8. Two weeks ago I had the belt on my Sears Craftsman Belt Sander fly off and do some pretty serious damage to my guitar project... and two days ago, The Sears Craftsman Router I borrowed from a friend, burned, instead of routed the top of the same guitar.

I will no longer use any craftsman products... I don't care WHAT Bob Vila says.

Is anybody else in agreeance with me!? Any bad experiences?

(ps. I will be using another friend's router with a Freud Spiral router bit I just bought)
