hey
would it be better to have one thick block of accrylic to creat a body
or several thin sheets glued together ?
if i used severral thin sheets then i could cut some different for the pickup routing and the neck pocket
a neck of acrylic is a no go isnt it ?
wouldnt be strong enough would it ?
-
wow . nice guitar
it reminds me of satriani , but i think thats been mentioned
good luck , hope it works out
your sg will look just as good i think
what pickups are they ?
have they got 2 poles per string ?
they look sweet anyway
keep up the good work
-
this may overcrowd it
but change the single coils to minibuckers ?
that would look pretty cool in my opinion and it'd give you some real muscle for rhythm
just my 2 pence (im english)
good luck , it looks awesome anyway
-
hey man
great guitars
looks like youve got alot of guitars to work on
did you make that roswell with a template ? if so could you pm it me
those roswells look insane
good work , keep working at it

ok
so ive got a strat copy and i want to venture into the world of customising guitars
im going for a matt bellamy style guitar
ill probably have to do some routing and a custom pickguard that wraps around bellow the bridge
can someone check this to see if it looks right ?
thanks for looking
i may post up the idea for the custom pickguard

i know he has both a fuzz factory and a DOD 90 phazor
but does he just use one during the start of plug in baby
if so which one and how can i wire into my guitar ?
in this video btw :
thanks

restrung it yesterday with some ernie ball super slinkies
seems fine now , perfectly balanced too
should be good if it doesnt break now
-
but the last string i broke was from bending
i cant physically bend it to breaking point
it was a smooth bend too soo im not sure why it broke
i didnt do a massive bend either
-
um , they always break at the saddles
usually bottome three ( three thinnest) break
-
just out of intrest
how many strings have you broken with a floyd rose
ive broken countless in the past week and its just annoying
i cant think of a remedy either
any help ? (even breaks em when properly set up)
thanks for reading

WOAH
thats a great job man
those inlays are superb
great guitar , amazinfg for a first build

simple one
is a piezo bridge / pickup possible ?
pickup woild be easy , single coil strat cover with 6 piezo transducers , but what about a bridge
and it would need a preamp
and can you get a floyd rose piezo bridge ?
-
hey
anyone have any experience of these beasts ?
22.55k
they sound pretty mean
as good as emgs ?
im thinking of getting a set for an upgrade
or maybe make a camo sg and stick em in , sweet i think that would look
-
just out of intrest
would active pickups be good with this setup ?
-
hmm
the acylic would be cool , ill see if i can get a hold of a sheet
-
ok thanks i will
although im gonna wait for some monet so i can get so trisonic pickups as im a big brian may fan
-
whats the best material for a pickguard
im planning to make one for my interchangable brian may loaded pickguard
plywood ? acrylic ? what ?
i cant use a normal one because the 5 way switch is made redundant by the brian may lots of switches style
so what material ?
i was thinking of using plywood as its readily avaliable to me

hi
well , i have 2 guitar now (both bought) but my new one has a floyd rose so i want to upgrade my first guitar incase when i gig it breaks
i have a strat copy and im thinking of rewiring it (if it goes well ill add new pickups later on)
im thinking of getting about 13 ish pickup combinations via the brian may switching schematic
which ive found here :
^ this is the standard wiring of the red special.
however on the website there is a modification to give 21 pickup combinations , allowing you to humbucker the bridge and middle pickups , shown here
there and it also has a foot note that you can add an extra switch to add a humbucking mode between mid and neck , however im not sure about this one
so i have a few questions :
1. where can you get completely blank strat pickguards (in the uk) ?
2. whats the cheapest supplier of DPDT minature switches (in the uk) ?
3. is the extra switch to allow the mid-neck humbucking combination ?
4 . if they are all on , all put in parallel , wouldnt that act as a triplebucker ?
thanks

p.s this will be instead of the sustainer for the moment

right so :
what is the name of this switch ? quadruple pole double throw ?
it looks complicated , is this placed before or after the original pickup selector ?
or does it replace the pickup selector ?
secondly , on the fetzer / ruby , there is only one output wire so do you just connect this to one midde pin , then connect that to the pin next to it ?
-
hi
ok , so , im planning to check out getting components and perf board
how do you split the signal of the bridge so that part of it goes to the 5 way switch and the rest goes to the fetzer / ruby circuit ?
also , how do you wire a bypass switch so that it cuts of the 5 way selector , activating only the driver and the bridge pickup ?
thanks
im currently working out the layout of the circuit on perfboard
i have the layout sorted
the only thing i have to figure out is just the harmonic switch , im guetting there with it any help /
and the other switch as detailed above
-
hmm
im torn between what to do
my expermintal side is thinking YEAH GO FOR IT
but i dont want to wreck a guitar
how much can this al be built for out of intrest ?
-
does anyone know where i can get a fernandes ravelle template
or could anyone draw me one up ?
thanks

-
hmm
i think it seems a little to complez for me
i think ill go for a compressor/sustain pedal , cheaper and less hassle
but thanks anyway
would i make a harmonic mode by phazing my bridge pickup then running it through the guitar , into the pedal ?
its a little off topic but it still involves sustain
-
i dunno
to look pretty
ok , but would that be wired up right ?
and whats the power amp ? just an op amp circuit before the driver and switch ?
something like this :
