  1. sad i have to go to sleep now, 2:21 am in Spain XD don't forget those pics, i really like how your project is turning out.
  2. or maybe that there are two things that can get damaged and to worry about. i had always prefered combos, but if you like having several amps, head + cab gets you more sound combinations. i like it now more. just a matter of taste, if you are going for several amps, i would go for head+cab
  3. i´ll go sperzels, i went party yesterday and overslept to win the auction i was watching on ebay for the schaller, so now there are only sperzels. thanks to let me know they are good, i had no input on a comparison between both besides what i had read searching comparing them with others. I´ll let you know when i get them. bye and thanks
  4. Which do you think is better, both six in line, for a strat, locking tuners. Tha schaller are the original replacement for a strat. The sperzel look uglier for me but cost 10 dollar less. It's my first locking so i expected to know from you which mechanics are best. Thanks
  5. i guess that is what you should have done to start with.
  6. if i lived in the states/canada i would have one. Indeed i´m thinking of bringing one to Spain when i go to Washington next January/February. They wire it for our mains!!!! god that is great. just too much gear i would like to bring from there i didn't realise maybe you just want to use the vetta and not the live xt, sounds reassonable to me. if it has a loop give a tube preamp a go, i personally love how it feels in my setup. about coloration, just tastes. anyway it's going to be digitallized in a cd but everything can sound good if done right. glad it helped. byes
  7. I had thought about it several times since i got stuck in the fretting part with my project. Wish i had the time to give it a try. hope some of the educated builders sheds some light on this
  8. that looks like my set-up: boss gt-8 >> poweramp >> speakers. i do like my tone a lot, and the gt is really tweakable. my poweramp is a beast, i never tried a solid state because i got a good deal, it is an engl. The cab also does, but it is not as good. Lately i've bouth a tube preamp and i use it in the loop of the gt but i´m afraid you cannot do that with the line 6. to me it makes no sense. if you like the sound of the pod stay with it. if you want a tube sound get a tube preamp (to use it for recording) you can have a nice one for round 250$ (like a mesa v-twin for example). if the problem is that you like your presets but you miss something in them it may be a problem with eq also. that is of course very reasonable. yesterday i went to my friend's house, he's got a pod 2.0. i don't really like pod (i miss options compared to my gt) but it does sound really good. i started to play with headphones but soon my head started to sweat and i connected to the return effect input of his peavey classic 30, the difference is huge to me. Of course that is a lot more money involved but a lot more to tweak. The amp, the speaker, the mic. You could ask a friend to bring an amp, get a mic from another (or use one of yours if you have) connect everything and give it a try. if you like playing with things that is going to suit you well XD, then again you won't be able to record at late night I have explained things a bit without order, hope my opinion helps. Jesus
  9. ok, after the exam i had on the evening i went the where i play and plug the thing, i used a plastic thing to hit slowly both tubes and one of them reproduced on the amp the noise. microphonic tube i guess. ggggggg. it was the most probable thing. ok, time to replace it, what do you suggest me???? i could go with an engl replacement, but it is the most expensive 23 € plain, 33 € first quality. lol i don't think i could afford both with those prices. tad, mesa, sovtek?? thank you very much
  10. if i knock on the pedal i can hear the knock on the amplifier. Not knocking it with a hummer, just mi fingers. Could it be a microphonic tube or is just normal. i can hear with the gain and volume set high, the same spot where i get hum. any idea??
  11. what would the process be to do it?? thanx
  12. Hi, i would like to compile some advices when designing pcb for a preamp schematics. I guess the most important are about the placement of the tracks. I will do a tutorial on this thing btw. All your comments are wellcome. THANXXX
  13. Hi, i've read some comments on a french site (helped by google translator XD) saying that there is a pot between the valves to adjust the symetry because the tubes are ac powered. Could this be the source of the noise?? i've noticed that the screamer has something called tr2 (i dunno what the sign stands for) in the bottom right side of the schematic. any help please?? my tech is on holiday, so i cannot ask him till a week or so, i´d love to see some feedback. even with the hum i love the sound it has god
  14. engl e-430 tube toner: operator's manual harmony central review engl screamer schematic it is just the preamp section of a screamer in pedal format. sounds great, but i want that noise away. i´ll try to record some samples of the hum to see if that helps identify the kind of problem it is. Howevery i'm using it connected to the desk, haven't tried to the poweramp yet. it should be working right in this setup anyways. any help welcome. thanks!
  15. said nothing, still hum, no ground loop
  16. i just got a second hand tube toner from ebay. Don't know it's age nor if the valves have been replaced, but i'd swear no. It develops a hum noise when i turn the lead channels. The preamp is the same preamp as in the screamer combo i had, and the combo doesn't have the noise. On the other hand, the hum reacts to the tone stack, could that be a bad tube, or something with the input? thanx for the help Jesus
  17. ok, thanx everybody, i'm set on the ssl1. if i don't like it i'll sell them and get the texas, or maybe keep it and have the texas in other guitar. thanks everybody. I'll tell you how i like them as soon as i get them. should be a week or so. ciao
  18. i'm after a stratocaster sound. i've heard the ssl1 sounds on the web and don't know to what extent they will sound like that on my guitar, but i like the sounds. I'm replacing the pickups on a fernandes stratocaster. i really like the tone of the neck and middle, i can't stand the bridge one. On the other side i think they are microphonic, as soon as i turn on a distortion that is over a crunch, the start to scream (i can't remember the word in english sorry). So it's not i'm really seeking a tone, just mending my fernandes. I will also throw some schaller locking tuners on it and a graph nut it's not about money really, i'm placing an order on thomann.de on monday and i'm limited to their stock. These looked as the most interesting options for me. thanks for the replies.
  19. i want to decide between this three strat sets: seymour duncan ssl1 fender texas special strat set fender noiseless (or the hot ones) 3 lace sensor picked up independently they are ordered cheaper to more expensive, just wanted to know your preferences. I've read a few good comments on the texas while searching. Let me hear you XD edit:i added the noiseless
  20. that is a problem, they are not really usual round the stores i usually visit. thanks everybody
  21. i don't find any in the price range with tremolo, do you know of any?? i have never played a esp, but a ltd one of my friend has, and it sounds preatty good, but weights like a tone or more.
  22. But that is fixed bridge, and i'd rather have a floyd What kind of repairs, electronics?, or you mean that the frets will go out, the machine-heads will break. I've heard good things about the zero resistance bridge the ibanez has. thanx, jesus.
  23. ok, i've come down with two options. ibanez s7320 - 699 $ schecter c7 fr - 499$ i guess the question is, having both nearly the same specs, are the 200$ extra of the ibanez worth it. Thanks everybody for their opinions. Not many like schecters round here. one thing different about both guitars is the scale, 25,5 ibanez, 26,5- i've never had neither a baritone nor a 7 string. But i'm after that deep bass sounds, will it make that big different?? on the other hand, if the schecter neck is not that nice, the longest scale will make it even more dificult for my fat little fingers to get there. mmmmm, if i had the cash i would just buy both and trash one XD!!!
  24. hi, i'm about to purchase my first 7 string just to get in touch and see if i like it. this i think is the best priced for the specs. The mahogany body really appeals me. Has anybody tried it?? what do you think are the best alternatives. i have searched the forum, so more or less i have already looked at the ibanez and carvin alternatives. But more than a list i would like to know particular things that make them better or worse. One thing i'm really concerned about this guitar is the neck width and comfort. Thanks. ;P
  25. wow, impressive work. it looks really clean, i guess you are using to transformers because one is for the heaters right? on the other hand, i have two set-ups in two different places, so maybe i'll start with a copy of yours... do you have any further info?? if it is the third channel of the x88r the values should be the same and the layout is just in the pictures. The only thing i would not be able to figure out is how you figured out the second channel. thank you for your time and help!
