MurphC
I got my neck blank and fretboard today from Stewmac. I figure even if I screw up the neck it's only 15 bucks. Anyway my spokeshave will be here next week so I guess I need to draw out the neck shape? I have one here I'm going to base it off of. The blank is 13/16" thick, do I have room to make a Fender style headstock? Are there any advantages to having it recessed like that? Brian
It's all up to you bro about the headstock but yes I would draw it out to scale so you can work it down on the blank. The advantage of the recess is string pull down to the tuners helping to eliminate harmonics coming from behind the nut, another little helper is either a locking nut or string tree. SguitarM527
13/16ths is pleanty... you only need 3/4... the headstock would drop 1/4" and the rest of the neck would stay 3/4ths. that is, aslong as your using a glued on fingerboard, and not a 1 piece neck. if its a 1 piece neck, you should have at least a 1" neck blank. but i think you said u had a fingerboard so, good luck.
