www Posted August 8, 2004 Report Share Posted August 8, 2004 No you don't just rip them out, but it's your guitar. Do what you want! Most people just remove the screws from the pickguard edges and then use a soldering gun to remove the pickup wires from the 5 way switch and from the ground (usually soldered on the back of the pot). You may half to desolder the ground wire (comes from under the bridge or tremelo claw), and the output jacks wires to be able to remove the pickguard. The pickups are screwed in from the front of the pickguard. Hope thats right. 3:00 in the AM and brain is shutting down. Look Here Read about soldering for advice on the proper way to remove solder and to correctly re-solder.
