Fraser Welsh
Out of curiosity, has anybody built a mirrored scratchplate. I've seen them on one or two guitars/basses and was wondering how easy they were to make, and what effect they have on the shielding of the electronics... rhoads56
Yep, ive done that. Used gold mirror backed perspex. Didnt notice any difference in the shielding, but it was a duel humbucker guitar, so it shouldn't really matter. I think ive got some left over, might be enough for a few guitars. Rocket
I have a few on my guitars, Ive cut one. Most mirrored ones are plastic so it would be no different then any other pickguard. One thing to be careful of when cutting and handling is scratching the backside of it because it's the mirror stuff you're scratching and will look bad from the front.
