MurphC Posted August 10, 2004 Report Posted August 10, 2004 Does anyone know how a deep a guitar would have to be to put a speaker in the body? And does anyone have schematics for a built-in amp? Quote
asm Posted August 10, 2004 Report Posted August 10, 2004 thats alot of work and i really cant think of any positive advantages you would gain. Quote
truerussian558 Posted August 10, 2004 Report Posted August 10, 2004 seconded, i dont think its of much use or benefit, there is a reason only cheap kiddy guitars have them, what could be a better idea is to use a small amp inside the guitar, to drive a speaker/earphone out, so that you can practice without pluging in your big amp, or while on a trip or something. maybe this might work, Quote
KTLguitars Posted August 10, 2004 Report Posted August 10, 2004 The depth/size of the body is depending of the output you want. Personally I would have buildt in one of the Mini amps you can buy (the cigarette pack ones) - havn't heard them myself but have been told that thay actually can play quite ok! Quote
MurphC Posted August 11, 2004 Author Report Posted August 11, 2004 This gives me an idea, I could simply route a pocket to insert a mini amp and somehow make it stay attached. That way I could remove the amp and plug it into a full size amplifier. It would be portable, but also useful for more than just a travel guitar. Quote
skibum5545 Posted August 11, 2004 Report Posted August 11, 2004 Along a similar line of thought, I've always wanted a guitar with a built in 20 foot cord on a spring reel, so you just pull out exactly how much you need as you walk around the stage, but not too much tension or you risk ripping the cord out of the amp jack. Or you could just have a little winding handle that pops out from the side of the guitar. Quote
litchfield Posted August 12, 2004 Report Posted August 12, 2004 I'd buy a harmony battery amp. Gut it and it'll fit in a tele. Quote
