sscovill
I'm working a 2-piece Les Paul made from Mahogany. My question is, will Titebond hold it together well enough, or should I consider doing any biscuit joints? Thanks, Steve
Morben Guitars
Biscuits and Dowles are not necessary, a titebond joint is plenty strong. To prevent slippage during clamping, use the fretboard trick of clipping off a staple or push-pin. Just be sure to put them FAR away from any areas that would be routed out...don't want to hit metal with the router!
Scott Rosenberger
No Biskits, The glue joint (if done properly) will be sttronger than the wood surrounding it
sscovill
Thanks for the input, guys. I went down to my local hardwood dealer (the one I bought the mahogany from) and they gave me some Titebond Supreme. Supposedly it's stronger than the store-bought Titebond because for industrial users, they don't add the preservatives that they do to prolong the shelf life of the glue sold at retail outlets. Thanks again, Steve
SonofaMesa
Glue is fine for the actual body pieces, but if you are doing a neck through, Id highly reccomend a spline.
