veneer finishing

hey everyone i was just wondering how the grain filling procedure is changed when you're using maple veneer,and what you do to prevent sanding through it after filling and sealing, etc.

I don't use any filler or sealer on figured Maple.

I just dye it how I want, and start applying finish.
