Curtis P
today, good friend of mine who plays drums and guitar invited me over to jam, so i bring up my washburn strat copy and my amp, he plays drums for a bit, and i play guitar (we played rockin in the free world and goofed around a bit) then he got on his guitar, its a washburn too, but WAY better then mine! I did a little blues tune (very simple) and he improvised with a solo to cover it, it was nuts, he can just solo out of no where and make it sound good too!! he said that he is going to teach me some tips and licks that make everything flow and sound amazing. Plus, since you know your playing with a friend, who is way better then you, you wont get embarresed to much because you aint the greatest, I found, so i just tried and tried and tried and tried to pull off a solo, but got nothing, it was all jumbled and sounded bad, but hey, i am still learnin!! So go out, jam with a buddy, it might help you in the long run Curtis
Gorecki
Practice Practice Practice. Improvised Soloing is an art form that requires considerable knowledge with years of practice. Steve Vai got his very beginning teachings with this friend Joe Satriani when in high school. Look what came of them.
